i, also, would like to know if & how to acquire a lifting/lowering "kit"__ hey KYLE, maybe you can answer that for us smile.gif

A kit would be a great idea.

The quarter inch makes quite a difference in how the boot sits on the ground. When I slip a quarter-inch thick book under the heel, the entire boot seems to right itself. The toe angles back down and the boots feel nicer to stand in. I've come to agree with others that the SD's really aren't made for lower heel heights.

yea, i'm beginning to think that way, too. i don't mind the upturned toes__ 'opted on the #38 swing last [exactly] for that reason. but, i was thinking "Cuban" might not be a good combo for the bulkier toe box, so i went for the block heels for aesthetic's sake.

anyway, i said to myself, i can easily have them lifted & tapered slightly [as on the Viberg service boots] if ever i change my mind down the line smile.gif

Just heard that Whites is offering the Semi Dress and Smoke Jumpers in Natural Chrome Excel now.  Does anyone have good pictures of other boots/shoes in the Natural?  Just trying to get a feel for the color.

I visited a shop here in Tokyo yesterday called Motor (it's a more recent spin-off of the wonderful Moto Aoyama Leatherworks).

They had some fantastic lace-up boots in natty cxl that I think more closely resemble a Whites boot than any other natty cxl boots I've seen. The images are quite dark, but hopefully they give you an idea.

This final pic (the first pics at the link above) is of a pair of boots worn hard on a summer bike trip around the US.

I also visited the main Moto Aoyama shop in Tokyo yesterday and they had some really nice oxfords and long chukkas in natural CXL. They have a new page on their site that shows how many of their shoes age:

New long chukkas in Natty CXL:

The Motor photos of the worn boots above, and also, If you search around a bit, the photo of the well worn Alden Longwing Bluchers that seems to have drawn a lot of interest in natural CXL, seem to have both been treated with heavy doses of something or other. I think the photo of the worn chukka above provides a good idea of what natural CXL boots look like when aged, well, naturally.

Does Motor have its own website or is it only the Moto website?

Do they only carry 3 sizes like Moto?

Both boots are nice but the broken-in chukkas are unreal.

The main webpage of "Leather Arts & Crafts Moto" lists three sister branches: Leather & Arts Hideo Motoike, Leather & Silver Moto, and Motor.

http://www.motostyle.jp/

Not sure of the relationship between them, but I guess they are all the work of Hideo Motoike. Mr. Motoike is quite an artist and his animal sculptures etc are displayed throughout the Moto shop, and he is also the person who beat up those Lace Up boots (above) on the North American motorcycle trip.

Motor has five sizes, 7.5-9.5.

Do you know how they fit? Do they run big? If I wear a size 10 in RedWings could I manage? I was also wondering that with the regular Moto's as well.

Since this isn't really a White's related question, and there seem to be more q's about MOTO shoes and boots, I created a separate MOTO appreciation thread:

i don't think baker's does returns on custom made to order. i sent mine back a month ago assuming i was getting a exchange for a different size. mind you mine was brand new i only opened the box to try on one side of the boot on a carpet immediately knowing i'd need a bigger size. i sent it back the same day i got them. i waited about 8 weeks and i'm pretty sure they sent me back the same size i sent in.

its the same size for sure, don't know if its the same exact boot i sent in but i honestly hope they didn't send my pair back in to have the same exact size re made. at this point i don't know what to do besides maybe take a big hit and sell a brand new pair of custom made to order boots for $400?? in buy/sell because i don't want to take my chances waiting 8 weeks + again and $45 to send it back.

the worst part is this is how they sent me back the boots all the paper tags ripped off of it when i sent it in all attached packed the same way i got them neatly.

Maybe instead of complaining or wondering, you should have contacted Baker's directly and spoke to someone?
