Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 297

Wow, phantomx48, really nice! Can you give us a couple of different angles?

Phantom and Bingham, great boots!

I love the soft toe on my ranchers, and I like the medallion cap as well.

It would be great to see some evo pics if anyone has them. I'm all for talking about Louie going away, but I like seeing boots too.

WOW! I wonder how shark will hold up? I'm not a fan of the block heel on that style of boot, but with that monster sole I think it pulls it off.

By the way @climbinglife, how has your break in gone on your new White's?  I think we had the same ankle issues.  Mine mostly cleared up after several days of wear, but then recently I went on vacation for two weeks and didn't wear them and when I put them back on had re-break them in, or get used to it again, or whatever it took. But it was right there on the inside ankle where the tongue folds back.

Yeah, it lasted about two weeks, just on inside part of the right ankle. After many different ideas and and an email to Kyle I figured out how to tie them properly lol. My old boots were all eyes and no hooks, turns out I was just over pulling on the first set of hooks and pulling it over my ankle bone causing the bite. What I do now is sinch the first set of eyes snug and then just pull over the first set of hooks lightly, and then continue lacing the rest as normal. This way that first set of hooks flex out when I bend my foot/noot. Sounds complicated but its not and and I have not had a single issue with bite since then. Probably also because the boots have become more broken in since then but i'm not changing up my lacing style ;)

I have also figured out that lacing them properly is the key to having them not be uncomfortable.  I was lacing mine way too tight as well.  However, i still think mine are breaking in up around the shaft.  As linafelt pointed out.  If I let mine sit for a few days they are stiff all over again but they loosen up after wearing them for 30 minutes or so.  The brown oil finish CWB's have been far stiffer than my roughout SJ's and they have been worn far more often since I bought both pairs.  The CWB's are leather lined though so that hasn't helped.

Yeah mine are leather lined as well. Kyle recommended it with the CXL leather.

My 9" Bounty Hunters in #8 CXL came in, and they're downright beautiful.  The welt stitching is a good deal cleaner/straighter than my other pair of BHs in Smooth Distressed, and the overall finish is really nice.  No complaints at all, so I'm really, really happy with these.  Glad I got in before any potential changes happen because of the sale of White's...received shipping notification a few days before the sale became official.
