Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 245

Hard to say as they both look different in the top 2 pics. The only other last they could have been made on is the c461 which has a pointier to but you'd also see a difference in shape throughout. I'd check with White's but I'm pretty sure it will be down to how they were lasted not the last itself. I've spotted these differences a fair bit on repeat stock orders, particularly with the thinner leathers and soft toe's. Good luck.

What do you hope to gain by complaining on the internet? Do you get your kicks attempting to blast away on a great company?

If you feel the boots are not made correctly your only way to solve the problem is to contact the manufacturer, not bitch on the internet. No matter how much you bitch, moan, and cry no one here is going to do squat.

Maybe you will learn that blasting a good manufacturer BEFORE they have the opportunity to correct your concerns is not a good idea, when they refund your money and tell you to take a hike...(which I would like to see White Boot Company do....)

Then you can go get custom made boots from someone else and then bitch about the price.

Not blasting the company, just wanting to know what is normal and what is not with the pairs of boots I received as this is my first time purchasing from them. I have already contacted White's and just waiting for a response. From what I have seen in this thread, I am sure White's is a great company and am also certain that my concerns will be handled to my satisfaction.

However why is it so wrong to post about the little things that were missed like the extra overhang on the heels which should not have in the first place. Or are we just to post the good about the products or the services from companies on these forums?

It's fine to post questions and negative experiences IMHO as long as it's not just venting.
Keep in mind every manufacturer has been taken to task for quality issues on this forum from time to time.
Wolverine, redwing, Alden, Julian...
I don't think White's is out of the ordinary. Making boots by hand naturally leads to some imperfections.

ditto to:

\Top it off with you did not order these from Whites and should deal with Bakers quality control issues before going to Whites..\

The normal way to handle a problem is to go to the vendor FIRST, not blast away on the internet about the manufacturer, who made them for a vendor, for your admitted "little things".

In your case if these "little things" matter so much don't use mass producers of WORK boots and order thru a vendor for lower pricing to make you a pair, or 1000 pairs of boots and expect bespoke manufacturer quality.

Only one person I know does not make mistakes, ever on anything, and could make you perfect boots but, he is busy doing other things.

It is not wrong at all to post as you did. This is exactly what these boards are for.  The more information one has, the more one gets to know a brand.  Not sure what got that other guy so upset, but I am glad you posted these pics and comments, and hope you'll keep us updated.  Good luck.

yours seems to look like my 2 pairs of White's

Semi Dress on the left and Classic on the right.

I did not see any blasting, just asking for opinions. And I think manufacturers have to realize that there are more eyes now on their work, given the www. I think all the above was pretty gentlemanly, perhaps the most offensive was the claim of blasting. Let`s move on and show boots, perfect or imperfect, in the hope to raise standards and keep supporting artisans who create great products.

Quit being an ass.

Gee a real business owners response. hahaha

The way to handle these "little things" AND DISSATISFACTION is to contact the vendor to get their response/solution then let people know. NOT OUT OF THE BOX BITCHING ON THE INTERNET.

These were ordered by a vendor, for this gentleman, from Whites and his recourse is with the vendor NOT WHITES. But, Whites will take care of it anyway.

His emphasis should be on the vendor that did not meet his expectations (for failing to inspect/APPROVE THEM prior to shipping to him)  AFTER contacting them for their resolution.

Not bitch posting about the wrong entity, that gets nothing done.

You're correct about contacting the vendor first, followed by the manufacturer and then on to a rant on the webz.

Still, loosen your shorts a little LB

Again.. nobody is bitching here.. I don't understand where you keep getting that impression from.

Also just a quick clarification on the "little things" just because you keep quoting me on that that.. The heel overhang issue should have been a little thing for Whites to check before sending them off. All they had to do was inspect it a little more than they did. It obviously is a big issue for me as I don't intend to trip of stairs with these on and end up with a broken leg or worse..

Anyway.. just to update.. these are going back to White's through Baker, which I should say has been more than helpful in working with me on the resolution.

Seriously Louie this isn't really that drastic a situation here.

Unfortunately in today's world, when someone has "little problems" then comments, slams, or bashes an excellent vendor, prior to letting the vendor have a chance to resolve the problem, it is remiss to not remind them of the correct procedure to follow.

Sales person, Vendor Mgt., then maybe Manufacturer until resolved, then maybe the internet.....any other way makes the process bog down or stop, to the detriment of the consumer.

But you guys know more than I do.....

If you are worried about tripping and falling with a pair of boots on it is even more imperative to follow the procedures or maybe take a class to learn how not to trip wearing boots.....lol
