Cheers man. I totally hear ya regarding tracings. I never have had luck doing that either with any kind of clothing!

My sizing:

Brannock: 10D
Alden Barrie: 9.5D (perfect fit)
RW Beckmans: 9.5D (a bit but not overly roomy)
Whites SJs: 10D (a bit but not overly roomy)
Wesco Motor Patrol engineers: 9.5D
Converse All Stars: 10
Clark's Desert Boots: 9.5

So I'm guessing I'm a 10D in SDs?

I think you're a 10D in SemiDress. For me a 12D SemiDress fits exactly the same as my 11.5D Barrie/Trubalance Aldens.

Wearing my Classic Brown SD's today. Aww yeah.

yeah I went with my brannock size which is the same as my Alden Plaza size which happens to be 1/2 size up from the Barrie so that sounds about right.

I had a similar problem with my packers: weird hole suddenly appeared though the surrounding material seemed intact.I didn't feel like putting out the cash for Canada/US shipping and time, so I had my local shop resole them and they're great, but the guy who worked on them said the midsole leather was weakened, so he reinforced it. A little disappointing, but I walk at least five miles a day on pavement, so I'm used to resoling. I've been told that a rubber or vibram sole would wear longer, but I love the feel of a single leather sole. Like socks with heels.

Am I the only one whose leather laces smell like they are rotten?  I thought my boots were rotting after only a couple weeks until I realized that the laces smelled awful so I swapped them for some nylon boot laces and they smell like leather boots again.

Also to reiterate some of the sizing, I wear 8D in Trubalance last (Indy boot) and 8.5C in SD and they pretty much fit identically.

Ok next boot to build, in a boondocker style:

6" Bounty Hunter or Semi Dress
Distressed Roughout
Contrasting smooth leather tongue (maybe British Tan?)
All antique eyelets
Single midsole, natural
700 Vibram outsoles
1/4" lowered block heel
No celastic toe reinforcement, aka "soft toe"

What you guys think?

This the exact build I was going to do for a bounty hunter boondocker but with different outsole. I also was contemplating their sand suede as a swap
