Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 157

I was going to agree with b-ewing, but I just went to White's website, and yes, a plain toe is standard! I never would have thought that! The website states a steel toe or celastic toe is an option and it will remove the NFPA rating if one is added. The NFPA is the code for firefighting gear.

Well I learned something today so now I'm done. smile.gif

Good find, and surprised myself! But their photo I would say has a toe insert, as seen by the shape, so thats the part that may throw one off...

Well, I stand corrected. Kudos, Shivman. Look who's full of bull sh*t now smile.gif And thx Andy b for keepin me honest

Got my eye on a Natty CXL build w/ brass eyelets. Bootgasm. Got a couple custom Allen Edmonds coming in shell -- it's really nice that the AE CEO extended the MTO offer to styleforum people.

You guys are really showing your lack of working man roots by not knowing where to buy good boots. Check with ALL agriculture supply stores like Big R Supply, Murdochs Supply basically any place they sell a chain saw they probably sell Whites's, not to mention small custom boot shops. Whites are made for the blue collar man, catering to fashionistas is just a side job. Use the dealer locator on White's website. I bet there are a ton of Whites dealers around Denver.

@7018 I was at the arvada army surplus but they also have smoke jumpers at whitesides up in brighton . Whitesides has a much bigger selection of work boots while the surplus has a little bit of everything.

jawnzer---Welcome, your boot selection sound great. I’d love to see what a soft toe Bounty Hunter in Navy/black rough-out would look like; Sounds very nice. The navy CXL is wonderful stuff.:)

Yeah, that navy is absolutely stunning, especially one of the pairs that was posted quite early in this thread (around page 40) That pretty much sold me on it.

Just need to get something for the tough winters around here, something with a good sole, but something that doesn't look to bulky, and vibram 430 looks to be perfect for it.

Question I have, why does certain leather need to have a lining, but others don't?

I think it has to do with the thickness of the leather. The thinner leathers require a lining

I think very few of whites leathers "need" to be lined. Some recommend it with cxl because of stretching but I have both lined and unlined cxl and I don't feel the unlined have stretched excessively. Lined will give a little softer feel though and warmth if you're looking for that.
