I used to be a married man.... connection? Hmm...

Anyway, I've got one pair of SD's coming, one pair of Classic Workboots coming, and one pair of White's oxfords coming. The wait is getting ridiculous though. I had a customized BMW ordered, built, and delivered from Germany is less time...

Blaster you're a Seattle guy too- do you find you wear your leather soled boots as much as your vibram ones? Today's sunshine is an obvious (and welcome!) fluke- I love the aesthetic and vintage appeal of double leather soles, but have been hesitant for obvious (at least to fellow northwesterners) reasons.

3 Pairs of White’s boots on the way!? Dang, you are living my dream… I would love to see the full line up when they arrive.

Marriage is overrated anyway…

If I could have my way I'd have another pair of BH's and a pair of Oxfords.

Yeah, it's hot as ballsack today. I'm not used to it! Because of the usually damp conditions, I get all of my boots topy'ed... so you get the best of both worlds (leather + rubber). I know all the good cobblers in Seattle and Bellevue so if you need recs, I can give them. Also if you want to see any of my White's in person, just let me know. I'm in West Seattle.

My White's collection is up to like like 7 pair. Not to mention way too many Alden's, Wolvies, and Red Wings. I have a problem. You don't want to be like me. Stick to the non-GM cotton, bro.

B-Ewing,

On the question of leather or rubber soles, I had to ask whether I was willing to trade a sole that looked better (leather) for one that was much more practical (rubber). My answer was "yes," so I went with rubber (700 sole). The 269 is a good compromise that gives much of the good profile of the leather with much of the practicality of the rubber. The 269 may not have the grip of some other soles, but it is a handsome bottom with that nice, tapered profile. Living in the wetter conditions of Seattle, like you do, I would think you'd have a difficult time choosing leather over rubber, but you know better than I do. With the various builds you have discussed, there's no way you can make a bad choice. If it feels right, go for it!

Bl@ster,

You really ARE sick!!! :-) I sure like your White's boots, though. Gotta say, you have good taste.

Allan, thx man. The 269 does seem to be the perfect middle ground. We'll see, I may decide to go with Blaster's suggestion on the thin rubber half soles... Hmm...

Finally ordered a pair yesterday after a couple of months racking my brain over leather choices. Kyle was a great help and actually called me about 20 minutes after hitting the purchase button on the website.

Custom Semi Dress - Chrome Excel Leather Last Standard,Sole Vibram Composition Half Sole,Size - Length 11,Hardware Antique Eyes & Hooks,Edge Brown,Upper (Shaft) Leather Natural Chrome Excel by Horween,Midsole Double,Pull Loops No Thanks,Leather Liner Cream,Sole Trim Close Trim,Toe Vamp Leather Natural Chrome Excel by Horween,Size -Width D (medium),Toe Cap Leather Toe Cap (only available on plain toe style), Celastic Toe Box Single Celastic Toe,Heel Base Standard

I changed the sole to the commando mini lug half. Its going to be a long wait. When i get the new ones in i will be sending in my current SD's to change the soles from the single leather to a double mid with the commando mini lug half. I really like how it looksand seems to make the boot more usable.
