Had a few questions....

How does sizing run?
I measure an 8D on the brannock device and take a 7/5D on the Alden Barrie/Truebalance lasts.
What size would you recommend?

Should I purchase direct from White's or go through Baker's?
I think you should take 8d.semi dress is very true to size.

I have 2 pairs of SJ's with it, and it is thick enough that it doesn't require a lining. It is not a dress leather, and has a sort of dull shine to it, but it is durable as hell. IMO it is more suited for SJ's or BH's, but I could see a pair of SD's with it if you wanted a utilitarian pair of SD's.

I think you should go 7.5d. They run a 1/2 size small. I wear 8's in vans and 7.5 in White's.

I was recommended 9E and here are the sizes I wear:

I can't remember 100%, but I think I am 9E on brannock
9D in Alden Indy which are a bit tight for me in the toe-box
I can wear 8.5E or 9D in Red Wing Classic Moc Toe Boot
9.5 US in Clarks
42 in CP, Lanvin and 43 Margiela

So, based on that I would say 8D for you. Anybody have any other opinions if I am incorrect?

I think White's SD run half size large. I just got the new Bounty Hunter (Brown Smooth, lined) and plan to get SD (CXL, lined) rebuild half size smaller than BH. The original size of SD which suggested by both White's and Baker's seems to run full size large for me. I had to use Dr Scholl's insert and thick boot socks. Even lined, I feel the CXL stretch out a bit.

Hey all - I was browsing White's site, and the price isn't listed... I hear a lot of talk about Bakers too, who should I be going with?

I'd go Bakers, they allow more customizations.

either way, it's the same. Bakers documents the available options better, but you can get the same options through Baker's or White's direct. I've ordered both ways...great service either way. Doesn't really matter which way you go I don't think. My Baker's order was done completely online...my White's direct order was done completely on the phone talking with a rep there, so maybe choose on your preferred style of ordering.

Sorry for my ignorance but will one of you guys please explain the difference between the bounty hunters and the semi dress. I plan on getting a new pair of whites to add to my smokejumpers and red dog insulated hunters. Thanks to all.

The bounty hunter is a Smoke Jumper on the Semi-dress last, so you can get it in heights other than 5", but typically it's 6".

Makes sense. Thank you much!

One more question for you all. My smoke jumpers and insulated hunters are size 11.5 F but have a soft toe. Anyone have suggestions on size for semi dress with black smooth leather? Same as my others? What is a double celastic toe? All help is appreciated.

I have no advice for sizing; you're best bet is to talk to White's or Baker for that, but the double celastic toe is just double the material; it's stiffer and more pronounced.

I've been told to get the same size in SD's as I wear in SJ's.

These are rad. Are they brown or black?
