Oh, and give us more overall photos! Great boots...a lowered heel?
Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 81

I would mention it to them in such a way as you are disappointed, and want the matter settled. You would not mind a credit for a future pair, (if that suits you, as a rebuild will take 6-8 weeks) but you are quite surprised that it passed quality control...I would contact them, but frankly its a non-issue long term. It looks like something slipped in the building, but I do find it a bit unacceptable they went ahead and delivered it to you in that state...
Thanks--just talked to Baker's with precisely this line of thinking in mind. I can deal with the defect...my disappointment comes from the fact that these boots come at a premium cost--and that cost should include quality control to catch issues like these.
Pics are on their way after work... I'm done grousing!
BTW talked to Kyle at Baker's. He'd heard back from White's about the defect--apparently it's just a fatty deposit in the leather, so nothing to worry about structurally. But they offered to discount the boots slightly, which was nice...I'm happy and happily give big ups to the folks at Baker's!
I'd be interested in knowing that too... It's got a nicely turned up toe, which I like. I would expect it to be 461 Last, but if it's SD then that makes me think I don't need the 461 to get that look.
I really like the shape of the boot. Classic.
Talking about the resoling and the heel size adjustments - I`m not sure that a heel adjustment will fit the way the boot is angled. I think they change the angle of the lie of the foot bed marginally to adjust the heel sizes, so that a change in heel size may cause undue wear in different places on the sole, and make your foot lie uncomfortably - any thoughts?
So I finally get my Natural Chromexcel Bounty Hunters tomorrow via UPS.
Little excited to see how they turned out.
I ordered a Cuban heel, normal height, Vibram 269 sole, cream leather liner, antique hardware, celastic toe, with close trim.
I will post up some pictures when I get the time.
Still not sure if I should initially treat them, or let them age naturally.
I really dont want to darken the natural chromexcel too much.
Thinking of just letting them age. See how it works out.
Still hoping to see pics of these Bounty Hunters with 269 sole...
Can anyone identify the leather on these White's?
These are water buffalo in sienna color.
Love to see a pic.... I think I have settled on a Smokejumper/Farmer-rancher, in Black CXL, with block heel lowered. Final decisions are sole and last. It's between the SD last (so Bounty Hunter) and the 461 (so Classic Workboot I guess). And then between 269 sole and commando mini-lug. I like the looks of the 269, but wonder a bit about it being slippery when wet.
Pics and feedback welcome....
