Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 80

Hi blaster, was it you who asked this on the IH forum as well? The French Calf is a thinner leather and you need to have it lined, a for wear and tear, yet to find out but they are suppose to age beautifully. Any ideas how I can rough up my boots in a short space of time? Especially the suedes? Would putting water on them, and dragging them through mud and sand give them a rough look quickly? Sort of like breaking in denim quickly? Any ideas?

dont do it, it will look foolish.  

Put them on, do hard work.

Just enjoy the new look for a while, they are only going to look like that once.

I think the sizing and last's and sole questions have been pretty well answered...the waiting questions will remain I'm sure...haha      

So i'm giving a call out..pic's-pic's and more pic's.. with as many color/leather combo's possible, the build sheet, age and amount of use they get........

I'll post some pic's of my plain dress brown virgin SD's in oh about 5-6 weeks....my first pair...my second won't be so "boring"..or my Nomad's...yes i'm infected...thanks to those who shared and if you have a rare combo..pic's please

The blue pair is a fantastic make-up ... save for the block heel, which to me, seems out of place with the narrow waist

I'd love to see a good close side shot of Smokejumpers in Black CXL, with either SD or 461 lasts...  (I.e, Bounty Hunter or Classic Work Boot).

 

I know that doesn't count as exotic, but it's what I am thinking of ordering, so the more pics the better as I decide on last and sole options.

Just received my White's SJ's (8" brown dress leather) from Baker's. Very happy with them overall. The only issue is this defect in the leather on the inside of the vamp.

 

 

My question: this looks like a natural scar in the leather...and these are boots I plan to use rather than baby (as much as possible with $$ shoes anyway). But is this something that passes muster with quality control or should I contact Baker's/White's?
 

I have an 8" BH in black CXL.  I will post pics later this evening

Got in touch with Kyle at Baker's. His thought is that it's most likely an issue with how the boot was lasted. He's already contacted White's.

 

I should say that dealing with the folks at Baker's is a real pleasure--top notch customer service.

I agree, unless your look is Marc Bolan circa "Tanx".

these are work boots not dress shoes so imperfection handmade by american workers are totally OK! if your bitchin about a slight defect then you should go and buy some handmade english shoes

I would mention it to them in such a way as you are disappointed, and want the matter settled. You would not mind a credit for a future pair, (if that suits you, as a rebuild will take 6-8 weeks) but you are quite surprised that it passed quality control...I would contact them, but frankly its a non-issue long term. It looks like something slipped in the building, but I do find it a bit unacceptable they went ahead and delivered it to you in that state...
