Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 72

I took a 10 mile walk today downtown in a new pair of Whites`s. I can confirm if the fit is right, these boots are good for the distance. And that was in a block/traveller heel - for those that claim its uncomfortable...

And they will become more and more comfortable as they mould to your feet.

What is the best way to order custome sd boots through whites?

I have received the booklet in the mail and filled out my measurements.

Do I call for custom? Or try to fill out the boot order form into a custom order list ans simply send it out?

thanks,

Brian.

I'd call, they are great to work with. I've done two orders direct and one through Bakers, all went very smoothly. I'd either call, or specify what you want online through Bakers.

Hey guys

Is this boot white's smokejumper or wesco jobmaster?

and what used option on this boot?

Hi guys,

I am thinking of getting a pair of White's Boots to look something like Yuketen Johnson Boot.

I was originally thinking it would be the semi dress with a medallion cap-toe, but someone suggested perhaps the Bounty Hunter with a captoe. Anyone, think the SD is the closer one? I am also planning on getting same vibram CHRISTY sole. I plan on wearing them in wet weather especially in the winter slurry. I am thinking the CHRISTY would be more durable than a leather sole. Any other pros and cons on rubber sole versus regular. Finally, I wear size 9D in Red Wing Classic Moc Toe Boot. Would you recommend the same size in White's since the sole is going to be the same as the one used on RW.

As for the color, the Horween Chromexcel that White's uses is closer to the Indy

you will most likely need to get a 6" smoke jumper built on the northwest last.

The christy sole is fine, as long as you dont expect it to have great  traction in the snow and ice.  On wet concrete its generally pretty good, unless that concrete is polished or really smooth.  sidewalks are fine.  Its blows on wet grass and that kind of thing, but most soles short of a vibram 100 do as well, so yea.

The chromexcel that Whites uses is not as lusterous as the CXL Alden uses, although I think its technically the same thing.  Just be aware that there are differences in each hide, so variations will occur.

as far as size, dont waste you timer trying to figure it out on the internet.  trace your foot and send it to White's or Bakers.  That said.  I wear a 10 in Whites, and when I stand on the brannock device, I am right at the 10 line.  I have about a thumbs width of room up front when standing

^Thanks for the advice, but don't you think the toebox on the SJ would be much more bulbous and squared than a rounder shape that I prefer.

Edit: NVM I think the Northwest last does make a difference. For what its worth I thought these looked pretty close to what I was after, but not sure about the last. They are the Semi-Dress.
