Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 8

I've seen some pics of sno-sealed rough-outs, and it just turns them out to look smoother.

I'm planning on just spraying them with some kind of silicone based waterproofer, unless someone has recommendations they can share.

I don't know if sno-seal has beeswax in it, but if you use a leather conditioner/wax that has some beeswax in it, you can use that on it. It will smoothen it out and make creases more evident and add some character.

I always use that method on cheaper suede shoes like Clarks.

I have been wearing my White's (classic work boots) every day for a few weeks now. They get more and more comfortable every day, and have quickly become my favorite boot. I am so impressed with them, that I am considering a second pair to rotate. Can anyone explain the difference between brown chromexcel leather and the standard brown leather? The chromexcel is awesome, btw. Edit: Also curious about the optional double midsole. If anyone has pics or experience with the double midsole, I would like to hear about it.

Chromexcel (CXL) is (I believe) a propietary leather of Horween Leather in Chicago: http://horween.com/index.php/leathers/ It is (imo) superior to most other pull-up aniline leathers... I ordered a pair of the Classic work boots in CXL about 3 weeks ago...and will post pics when they arrive.

Still waiting... Its been 5 weeks...talked to Baker and they said Whites was backed up cuz they are ramping up boots for fire season so it will be a couple more weeks... Def getting antsy for them...will post pics when I finally get'em

They finally arrived! These are some serious boots- very well made, seemingly bullet proof, and just plain heavy duty...they will last a lifetime. I had them put on a more aggressive lug for serious traction and durability...alters the asthetics a bit but this boot is a function over fashion decision... They fit perfectly...and they put my RW GTs to shame...these boots rock. They are pretty heavy tho- I put my Alden Cordo-Indy's on after wearing these for a while and it felt like I was wearing slippers...

those look great! I got ship confirmation yesterday on my British tan semi-dress, should be showing up Monday so that is exciting.

You could use those boots to cut down a tree, build a door, install it, kick it in, and kill the person behind it.

Do they offer shell cordovan as an option?

I'm pretty sure they don't. Shell cordovan is not an easy material to work with, which is why only very few makers use it. Furthermore it's harder to use shell on boots - I'm fairly sure that Trickers at some point said that they couldn't deliver their boots in shell (Of course I know Alden offers boots in shell)

Bump for White's and the boys at Baker Shoes down in Eugene! Picked up a pair of custom black CXL lace-to-toe Smokejumpers in an eight-eye, double soled, w/Mini Vibs (rolled top, and brown leather lined). these puppies are what I plan to be buried in! Perfect fit, totally solid. plus they're made here in my home state of WA. Not summer shoes, tho!
