The second was a challenge to come up with a 30's themed ensemble. Again, with my propensity for fedoras, eyelet-collar shirts with collar pins, three-piece suits and watch chains, I would have a natural advantage (my selfish nature is revealing itself in this posting - oy!). The idea presented itself to me in the form of an invitation to a theatrical fund raiser, with a proposed 30's theme (an event that I immediately vetoed attending when I found that the low-end tickets were $1000 apiece).
Orgetorix's suggestion of color theme would be fine, though if purple is picked mbreinin will be most downcast - he was most critical of posting of last Friday - "explosion in a grape factory" was the term he used (others found it more acceptable, myself included).
As it is, I have to be dressed for a post-holiday holiday party for work for Friday, so the ensemble would have to pass both the muster of this group and be suitable for after-work schmoozing and boozing, a challenging multiple task.
We have done pattern matching and plaid already. Of course, I am always up for more plaid.
I don't think you would get enough support for a '30s theme, although we have done vintage. Plus, you would have to contend with our resident DB clad Film Noir master, and it would probably not work to your advantage.....
If purple is selected I would, indeed, be most downcast.
