Need Bookshelf Recommendations

We are redecorating our house and I have a ton of books. Looking for 2-3 shelves, ideally $300-400 each in decent quality...better than Ikea but not Ethan Allen.

Any suggestions? It for a fairly traditional living room. Looking for dark woods.

In this price range is there anything decent to be had that is not modern?

Any suggested brands or retailers?

At that price, and in a traditional style, I'd consider vintage. You can get some lovely bookcases for $400.

That said, the best deal going might be this from Staples:

Solid wood, sturdy, presents well, holds a lot of books, doesn't take up a lot of visual room. And it's $80. If you're patient, it often drops to half that. Way nicer than the cheap stuff at Ikea.

The biggest drawback is that the shelves are pretty deep and spaced out -- nice if you have larger volumes, but not ideal for a lot of small paperbacks.

The Staples bookshelf is, however, handy if you want several matching bookcases on the cheap.

Thanks Doc. This will be good for one of my rooms but I was hoping for something a little nicer for the living room.
