Thoughts on fringed vs chopped scarves?

Just wondering if one gives off a better impression than the other?

I read that fringed scarves look for 'refined' than chopped.

I am also looking for ideas on what sort of scarf I should be purchasing? I have a normal build and wear a black topcoat.

Recently I received a RL scarf it is dark tan cashmere wide thin and chopped. (it is on the website) I usually wear my other scarf underneath my coat for added warmth. Just wondering if this scarf depicts me as a stylish sophisticated individual or the exact opposite.

Would it be odd to fold the scarf in half and wear it outside the coat if I wanted to do that?

Scarves are pretty much a strictly personal choice. And I normally leave the ends inside the coat, so fringed or not makes no difference.

As for type of scarf, not a whole lot goes that well with black. Grays, deep red, deep green, cream, white...
