As someone who buys alot of art and antiques I can name hundreds of things.

Not that I see these things as something I will own forever but it's a way to buy the things I need and should I get tired of it I can get all my money back and buy something else.

You guys are going to go broke trying to keep up with trends or the Jones.

Take a watch that is 50-100 years old. Either you like it or you don't. But chances are if you like a 50 year old watch now, you are going to like it 20 years from now. But like I said, if you get tired of it you can get all your money back to get another watch.

Luggage/Leather goods. I'm looking at getting some Rimowa for myself and Zero Halliburton for my mom. And a Hermes bag for her at some point too. Green pebbled calfskin perhaps.

Then surely its not an item you've only had to buy once?!

RSS, I forgot about musical instruments. I had a go at playing England's oldest working Pipe Organ the other day. It was like sitting at a time machine.

I'll bet!

A good pipe organ should last a lifetime or two ... or more ... but often there comes a day when even it needs to be replaced. St. Thomas Church, New York (England's very own John Scott, organist & choirmaster) is ripping out and replacing their grand old Aeolian-Skinner. I knew it had problems ... but still it's sad.
