Amazing Australian Flood Footage - Page 2

is there any maps at this point of current water levels? I have a friend in Albion who posted on his facebook an hour ago who said he was beginning to see the water creeping over the other side of the street, so he was planning on getting out.

very ballsy of the 4wd driver. floods like that could carry you off in mere seconds. we were hit by floods of that proportion in 2009 and it was scary as shit.

Not of current water levels, but the Brisbane City Council website has a list of flooded suburbs. There are also flood modelling maps on there as well, which shows the predicted water level.

I can't get to my house as its completely cut off, and my street appeared on the list of expected flooding, and the flood modelling indicates the water will come up directly to my house. I live one street away from the Brisbane River so its going to be a long night until the king tide at 4am tomorrow morning!

So sorry to hear that

This is being plastered all over the news here in Australia, all I ever see now on TV is constant updates over six different channels about this flood. We get the point, there's a flood and it's ruining homes and lives.

My thoughts are with you guys, I'm from Brisbane and we lost everything in 74, luckily everyone I know is high and dry now.

Stay safe, if you do get flooded out don't go back until you are sure it's safe. In 74 several people were electricuted and there are sure to be dangerous snakes about.

So I guess the drought is over? Or is it in another area of Australia?
Drought better than it was but I wouldn't ever go calling it over, it's a big, dry place. This is in the sub-tropical north, not a drought stricken area. Down south, I am guessing my brother still has a timer in his shower etc etc. There will never be a water surplus there.

There was a huge drought up here in Brisbane for almost 10 years, then all of a sudden its raining every day for the past 2 months. Not sure about the rest of the country but i've heard Perth (on the other side of the country) is having a heat wave at the moment. I've been one of the lucky ones where i just have to take a couple detours to get to work, but there are some guys at our work who cant leave their homes because theres no way out. Loads of business are closed and most of our supermarkets are completely empty because everyones been panicking

The guy filming didn't care because he proudly announced that he had parked in front of the building. He also seemed disappointed that the guy with the truck successfully made it out of the back parking lot. There's definitely a smugness to the filmer, almost bordering on Schadenfreude. And I wonder when the people who lost their cars eventually see the footage, will ask him why he didn't start knocking on doors when he saw the waters begin to rise.
