New Wardrobe: the perfect Jeans (brands) needed

Hello everybody, (first post )

I recently lost (am in the process of losing) a lot of weight and now that I will be done with my M.Sc. and start work soon I also want to start with a totally new wardrobe.

The first Item on the list: the perfect jeans.
Being a broke student weighing more then 200 pounds at one point I never really was able to find those. I now wanted to get some advice on what brands to look for other then Levis. I am looking for straight or slim fit jeans and I don't like them to be too fancy (weird back pocket and Label designs). Are designer Jeans (Zenga, RL, Jil Sander etc.) worth their money or should I stick with the specialists? A friend told me I should try Acne and Edwin before anything else. Also I live in Germany and since I am totally unsure yet about fits and sizes I would have to be able to try them on; so no underground US labels I guess.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I would buy a lot of cloths if you are sill loosing wieght. Iwould buy one or two good pair with resale value, like dior raws or something like that so you dont take a big loss.

I am sure you wanted to say not.

Yes, I was thinking the same. I am currently just researching. Until I am sure I hit my target weight (160 probably) I won't spent crazy money and probably concentrate on shoes and accessories. But I like to be prepared and don't just walk in a store knowing nothing.

though a lot of ppl here shop mostly online, there's no better way to learn about denim or anything else for that matter than actually going into a store and feeling the jeans and trying them on. Just go in a new store with the mindset that you are not there to buy anything, but just to look. If you find something that you absolutely love, then by all means pick it up.

what I am trying to say is that you can spend a whole month reading about certain brands of jeans but know nothing until you see them in person, and perfect is very subjective anyways, good luck

Naked and Famous are my favorite jean brand, very simple design with no fancy pockets or whatever and really great price point. http://www.nakedandfamousdenim.com/
