i bought a pair of florsheim x duckie browns from gilt--laceless wingtips. i wanted shoelaces, so i contacted Florsheim about it--they didnt have any laces in stock, so they placed a special order with the factory for me and are sending them my way. i thought that was pretty cool of them, especially since i wasn't even directly buying from them in the first place

I think you can get this from most places though. Being in milwaukee, i have to obviously do quite a bit of calling around- ive had sa's at barneys do this to me because they were too lazy to check on shit, especially when the third mark down is done, and everything is mixed together.

Once again The Bureau Belfast came through for me.

Had some stuff on hold. Ran into a financial bind that needed to be handled asap. Insurance deductible for my car, one of the properties I own pipes burst and lastly my snow blower died all during Snowmaggedon.

I had to shell out 5K in a minute and Gareth as usual held on to what I needed and even kept me informed on what was incoming. Great people and understanding. Never had this service before except at my local Barneys. That's about it.

FWIW, I mostly interacted with Mikael, who went out of his way to help me.

I find females have the worst service personally, even extending this mostly to waitresses and such at restaurants.

a not so pleasant experience and a couple questions.

so i recently ordered a jacket from a French store ($600) and it was sent in the wrong size (i ordered the 36 and they sent the 38). they admitted the error and offered to refund me via Paypal once I ship it back but refused to cover return shipping even though I initially offered to pay 50% myself, saying "No possibility for the shipping fee because during sale the return conditions are different, sorry for this inconvenience." LOL.

Well, hopefully I will at least get my $600 back. But somehow the package is bizarrely stuck in French customs now (I sent it via USPS Express Mail and filled out all the necessary forms). When I track it on Chronopost.fr (tracking no. is EG682178216US in case anyone's curious what it looks like) it says something which Google translates as 'being repackaged' then 'mail blocked because of missing document' (btw why do so many French websites not have English versions whatsoever? ) I then did some google research and apparently the problem can be resolved if the recepient simply contact Chronopost with some documents and then the package will be released. I emailed the store owner about this yesterday but still haven't heard back (normally they respond pretty fast)

It's a little disconcerting because they could potentially just ignore me and not contact Chronopost, waiting for the package to be sent back. And ignoring me once would make it easier to ignore me twice, and so on.

Has anyone encountered similar problems with French customs? If so would you enlighten me as to what exactly is going on here?
Also in cases of missent international order is it unusual for merchants to refuse to cover return shipping?

Anyways, maybe i'm just being paranoid. hopefully i'll update with good news soon.

BTW dunno if I should be posting in this 'Appreciation' Thread... would RFT be a more appropriate place?

One good thing about WrongWeather (one of the stores I actually consistently order from, as well as an affiliate, have bought 2 thing from them in the last month and a half) is that they do a great job on the customs forms, so the stuff always come through, fast.) I looked at the manifest, and it has the Italian address of Common Projects, and all that stuff that sometimes customs gets hung up on.

We are working on a coupon that will give us all good value but keep WW out of the target of vendors, something that has been a real issue in the past. Hopefully, that will be up soon.
