Okay, years and years ago in the 1980s, my now deceased best friend and I used to play this game called "Character Actor." You had to name...wait for it...a character actor. We had certain lose parameters that are hard to enunciate. If you ever had a lead role, you're no longer a character actor. Ed Harris was the avatar of character actors, at one time, until The Deep. He's a good example of a character actor that blew it.

So, let me start.

David Morse.

Esai Morales. This is a great example.

Tom Arnold and Jeffery Jones are equally good examples.

Buscemi is out. There was that movie about comics and now Boardwalk Empire. Otherwise, yeah, he'd be perfect.

See? It's hard.

If anyone can find any starring roles, let me know.

Oh, you count indie flicks? I forgot about Boardwalk Empire, to be honest.

I guess Ernie Hudson was in Ghost Busters (although I don't think he spoke more than 10 words) and Danny Trejo has that Machete movie.

I almost put Al Leong (I was thinking Big Trouble when I put James Hong). He's perfect. Also fits nicely into the Mercenaries game we used to play at the office (name guys that are routinely cast as expendable mercenaries/bad guys over and over).

Al Leong has long been a hero of mine.
