Isn't that exactly the kind of jacket Drew recommends you use to measure?

Take a picture of the jacket, send Drew the measurements, and let him respond.

Yeah, and I've done that. I guess what I'm trying to ask is how substantial the MDR is.

How hard of a job would it be for a tailor to shorten the body of a 2010 DR by like 1.5'' maybe 2''?

How realistic is this kind of alteration without messing with the silhouette too much?
^I wouldn't do that. The 2010 DR has straps near the lower end. If you shorten the body, the placement of the straps will end up looking weird.

I would try to sell the jacket and order a new one.

I feel like moving the straps wouldn't be such a big deal. Maybe I'm wrong?

You are wrong, man. Not only are the straps an issue but the placement of the pockets relative to the hem of the jacket would be thrown off completely. Do you have any fit pics posted?

Hopefully we'll have that new varsity jacket out as well, now that I'm back and can work on it. I'm pretty excited about it, I think people will enjoy it.

Can't wait for the varsity!

A whisky a1 Is looking very appealing to me now. Anyone know whether the collar is more likely to stay up or if it is more flimsy and flops down?

Also the Front and back lengths don't include the collar ribbing does it but includes the waist ribbing like the other bombers

Drew,

Now that you're back, should people bump emails or are you still catching up?

I'll call for bumps when I get through them, it's a bit of work.

working on winter coats lately, and they're gonna slay. You might want to hold that 'best' til the new coats arrive and see what you think. redface.gif

Since I came out with the peacoat a little under 2 years ago, and it went the two winter seasons basically unchanged, this year the TOJ peacoat, gets facelifted, as do all the others, plus some new stuff. As always, still the same basic goodness, but with enhanced detailing, nip and tuck of the fits. I don't feel like changing up the materials too much as I like what I've got in the melton winter coats and they provide a nice basic base for coats that will go the distance. I just want to see the forms come into focus, much like I've always done with the leathers; each iteration morphs a bit. Working on those and they should be around soon. I know it's pretty hot but you guys heading back to school and stuff will want to order them sometime soon so that they arrive when it finally starts to cool down getting on in September, yada yada.

Also, still working on emails, takes a while to get through each because they're all different questions and stuff and I never know til I open it... ffffuuuu.gif

As I said before, I'm back from like 50 days of traveling, and not going anywhere for the next few weeks at least, so things are gonna be back to normal now. Had a couple things happen while I was away that I have to deal with (Biggen's jacket is one, he was away on vacation and I was away on vacation, and then the jacket itself turned out not to my liking by the time I came back, so we're making it again)

During my trip though, it was really great - had a chance to meet a lot of people who read and post in these TOJ threads, that was good. Had a chance to see somebody wear 6 TOJ pieces simultaneously for my amusement. Met up with willy cheesesteak and got to tell him in person how much I appreciate the little things he does here and there constantly that keep fuel in the TOJ machine.
Most of all, I've seen a ton of clothes lately, and have gotten into new stuff as I had a chance to get out of Korea and refresh my taste buds for clothing. I was almost losing hope since I'd been in Seoul for like 3 years nonstop, looking only at TOJ stuff of my own invention and not really paying attention to any other clothes (since they barely even sell anything good here), and so just kinda kicking around stores in America and Japan helped me cleanse my palate, so to speak.
Met a couple really inspiring people on my trip who just do tremendous jobs at their respective arts - and what they do, is exactly what they want to do... and while they know how that sounds, those people come through with their part of the deal. That is what I want be, or have been trying to be the entire time, and I will continue to do so. Just nice to spend time with people who are in the same mindset as me. I think there will be more things I can do for people, not only just TOJ.

Anyway, been away, but the customary refresh is coming very soon.
