TOJ - updates on the debacle, complaints, news about other ventures, whatever. - Page 3640

If Falcon actually gave a shit they'd offer 50% discount to robbed TOJ costumers as they were affiliated with the brand. They'd take the hit with honor. They know more about Drew's whereabouts than anyone else probably, if they don't I'm sure they have connections that do... and I don't think they're feeding info to dieworkwear to help us

Falcon raised the prices for MTM, my Canadian currency is garbage (not anybody's fault here), and I think they are offering 15% discount for robbed clients if you order before their arbitrary deadline (why are you trying to rush me?)....when you boil it down, it would be more expensive for me to order the same jacket from Falcon with their small discount than when I did with TOJ, and I'd literally be sending my money to the same guys. I've already been shamed by family and friends for getting screwed from TOJ..." I told you so " they say. Can you imagine how bad they'd scold me if they heard I did it again?

Every single bank in the US should give a million dollars to each US citizen for being bailed out with taxpayer money because if they gave a fuck about americans, they'd do this with honor and pride. (do you realize how fucking ridiculous you sound?)

I constantly remind myself to stop reading this thread...and yet here I am. Reading.

You'd have to be a complete moron to buy anything from, Falcon. It still blows my mind how they have all gotten away with this. And the balls they have to advertise on this thread.. but wait, they will give you this shitty discount if you hurry up and buy.  This whole thing is such a fuck story. Charly and Dan had no idea shit was going south but just kept taking money? motherfuckers! you knew the opperation.  you should have known damn well something was off. I get it though.. you guys had no idea right? Funny yall knew nothing, but knew enough about how to start you own business, doing the same exact fucking thing. scumbags.

Yeah lets compare a small company with a whole nation...you're the one sounding ridiculous

edit: and I didn't say shit about pride, I said they should honor their mistakes...two different things

Takes hyperbole literally. Good job, bruh.

Why even go to hyperbole example? keep it realistic, bruh.

too lazy to quote everything. read and figure out which one pertains to you.

businesses are created to make money, not to cater to favors out of consumer-perceived ethical and moral obligations.

if you've worked in a small business for a few years and haven't learned how to operate a similar business, you're doing something wrong. let's say, hypothetically speaking, that charly and dan knew that the money was being funneled into libertine. are they going to assume the worst and expect no jackets to be made? they weren't getting paid either and they're not stupid. it is definitely within the realm of possbility they thought that the second round of orders would generate enough liquidity to make orders, turn a profit, and get their pay & backpay. clearly, they know enough of the business to know the profit margins. at the end of the day, they're looking to get what THEY were promised (their paycheck).

Yes...I agree with the exception of:

Sorry to break it to you, but Falcon is not TOJ. Frankly speaking, offering any sort of discount at all is a favor. As it stands now, legally and objectively speaking, only Drew stole your money. Charly and Dan have no obligation to compensate you for Drew's wrongdoings.

The only difference between TOJ and Falcon is one guy.

And that actually makes all the difference.

I have no idea whether the Falcon guys and the TOJ crew are in cahoots, or not, but it seems to me that such speculation is a bit useless (as ever). You guys have good options--see the recent Craftsman Leather thread for instance, or the project LA Guy has been working on--why the insistence on sticking with this sorry group?

I got stolen $800+ by Drew and yet I got already 2 Falcon jackets I'm very happy with.

It all depends on how you look at it. From my point of view, Charly and Dan are the biggest victims as they worked with no pay for months from all we know, and Charly in particular had to deal with angry customers for a while as he seemed to be the only one that could be contacted. They were salaried employees, not owners.

I have bad memory and can't remember the timings of the various events, but I'd say even after no more orders were taken, jackets were still being done. At a lower pace, yes, but still being done.

And everyone's clairvoyant once shit has happened. I'm from Spain, and we had a huge housing bubble here a few years back, probably much bigger, proportionally, than the one in the US. At some point more houses were being built per year than in the UK, France and Germany together (and all of them have a bigger population). Everyone's now like "OMG we were crazy, of course this was going to happen!" yet most people didn't see it coming and they were getting mortgages like crazy. Isn't this the main premise of the movie Big Short? Haven't watched it yet but I think it's about some guys who saw what was coming when no one else did, despite the data being available for everyone. Something similar might have happened to Charly and Dan, and what's obvious now might not have been back then.

I usually don't buy into conspiracy theories either like the one nahneun posted (facetiously, I think) above.

All this being said, one thing that was unbeknownst to me until someone pointed it out a few days ago and that bothers me, is that Dan worked with Drew at Libertine. This pretty much invalidates the statement "Where is Drew? We have no idea. Neither of us have been involved with Drew since we left." that is in Falcon's thread first post and I guess on their new website too.
