Combined with the blatant lie that orders were being filled, guy sounds like a cunt. Sucks for you.

Well, if your dad contacted you and said he'd been getting letters about something awful you did and was concerned wouldn't you be embarrassed and worried? No one wants to be shamed in front of their parents and that goes double for eastern cultures. im not saying it is a silver bullet, but what is? It certainly couldn't hurt and maybe could help. Not like he can tell his dad to fuck off like he can with any of us either.

Drew was raised in the Anglosphere, wasn't he? Does he even speak any Eastern languages?

Anyway if he was going to fix the hopeless state he's put himself and us all in he'd have done it by now, shame or no shame. I'm certain his parents are well aware of his situation even if what he told us about PayPal representatives physically knocking on his dad's door was a lie (it probably was).

His parents are aware of the situation.

Being generally aware of it and getting dozens of letters from people their son robbed are completely different things.

Well, I definitely encourage people to take whatever action they think would be good. Just remember that the situation right now is: Drew has very little money or assets. So all the shaming in the world won't give him $400,000 to return to people.

Supposedly he sold his shares in Libertine -- or is at least divested from the company -- but no one at Libertine will confirm these details with me, including Daniel at Falcon Garments. Really disappointed in that, to say the least, given that the Libertine guys initially said they would help.

He profited $400,000 because we gave it to him within a year. That wasn't money he saved up. He blew it by dumping it all into Libertine. He's actually awful at business.

Anyway, I'm speaking more with a lawyer about this at 3pm. I'm still working on this, but it would be nice if someone could convince Daniel (or any of the Libertine guys) to be cooperative. Frankly, I don't think what I'm asking violates any South Korean laws. I'm just asking what happened to Drew's shares.

TBH, even if it does violate S. Korean laws, they would only risk paying $5k, which means they would still be keeping about $395,000 of our money.

Do you suppose that in exchange for unwinding Drew's investment in the restaurant, they agreed to stay out of it?

@dieworkwear I'm not quite sure I understand what Daniel at Falcon Garments has to do with this. Should we be boycotting them too?

Wanted to point this out but felt like I'd just be wasting my breath. It's implicitly understood by the way our money was handled and the order taking process was established and put to use that this was a pretty egregious example of bad business practice.

Dan worked for/with Drew, I'm not sure on his association with Libertine. From what we know he was also stung by Drew in that he wasn't paid his due wages whilst working with him. Not sure I'm ready to begin ranting and pointing fingers but Falcon co-opting ToJ designs and its business model was always salt in the wound for the people that got screwed as far as I'm concerned.

The general lack of compassion amongst all these people is disheartening. I am not even mad about losing 800 dollars at this point, I make that much money in a short amount of time and to spend anymore of my time on this is essentially wasting even more money. What really gets me is the following:

1 - The lack of sympathy from Daniel and Charly. As people who essentially enabled and aided him in stealing our money, they've quickly pivoted their entire identity into a for profit model using this very thread and the original business as a foundation to build on. If you want to distance yourself from the TOJ nightmare, that's fine, but don't come and advertise your new product while we're over here watching our funds fly out the window. The money that would usually be spent on marketing and having people discover your brand is essentially coming OUT OF the empire that Drew created. You can't USE THAT and just tell us to fuck off when we ask for some kind of help or recognition. At least SHOW some support.

2 - The juvenile and immature sense of responsibility from the other people on this thread. How many times did I come back here trying to follow the paper trail of where my money was going, to find a bunch of annoying forum brats arguing about really irrelevant things? Jesus christ we probably could have formed an action plan way quicker, while Drew was still ON the map, if you guys hadn't turned this thread into a douche circus.

3 - The fact that Drew won't even address us is also maddening. Sure, take my money, tell me why, tell me why you're so broke - just don't leave me hanging here twiddling my thumbs. Tell us why you failed. You know when most startups fail, they write everyone a letter explaining why they failed and that they are sorry. Their investors are pissed, sure, but the closure allows them to move on and realize that there is nothing they can do to get their money back. This situation is the opposite! Drew came on here every 6 months and dangled the carrot in front of our faces. "Everything's behind schedule but jackets are being made ... etc. etc." Man, just tell us you fucked up and be done with it!

Yea I thought that Daniel may have worked at Libertine but did not have any stake in the business. I wasn't sure if DWW was referring to him actually having some ownership.

But yea Falcon opening did rub a little salt in the wounds.
