TOJ - updates on the debacle, complaints, news about other ventures, whatever. - Page 3613

WOW thank you SO much! I've been trying to read through all the posts on this thread but the subjects drift in and out and I ended up becoming very confused and extremely saddened as my hopes and dreams of getting my second jacket are shattered into tiny pieces.

So is there absolutly NO hope of getting our jackets... or even our money back?

Also I apologize for being completely clueless about this situation. This news greatly saddens me. I will go cry in the corner now.

I think you should treat this as a criminal case. You may or may not get your jacket (or your money back), but you'll have to work on this as though your money has been stolen. All the excuses that were given before -- Korean holidays, Dan's father dying, bad inventory system, etc -- were pretty much excuses. From what I've seen, it's pretty clear he took ToJ money, invested it in Libertine, and hasn't been able to get the return he expected. Thus, no money = no jacket production and/ or refunds.

Here's what you and everyone should do:

1. Absolutely contact Paypal, your bank, and your credit card institution (assuming you linked your payment to your bank or credit card). Explain the situation and ask them if they can file a chargeback against Drew. Explain that, even though this is well past the buyer's protection period, you're dealing with a custom garment and delays kept happening. Tell them the person is in South Korea and has basically disappeared. If the person says they can't do anything, hang up, call back, and see if the next person can help.

Some people have contacted me about their successful chargeback cases. Just because others have been unsuccessful here doesn't mean you shouldn't try to file a chargeback. But you have to put in the work.

2. File a criminal complaint against Drew. Someone posted a really useful link here.

So I've made it REALLY easy for everyone to do so by filling out the document that needs to be attached to the form. You can download the .doc file here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/35be4x98ndqt3zc/petition_completed.doc?dl=0

All you need to do is:

1) Go to link #1
2) Fill out information, which takes 20 seconds
3) Download the .doc from my public dropbox folder (link #2)
4) Insert your name and address into the .doc.
5) Attach the .doc in the petition form
6) YOU'RE DONE. EASY.

There's really not much excuse not to complete this.

3. If you want, follow this thread. It's often full of noise and not very fun to read, but sometimes things happen and it's helpful to have people involved (e.g. speak to the media and go on record, file criminal complaints against Drew in the US, etc).

Yes that's his GF.  She's aware enough to not post pictures with Drew on her own instagram.

Petition submitted. It really takes 30 seconds. Thanks for consolidating the information.

Thank you very much dieworkwear for the information. I now have a solid understanding of the situation and I will be dealing with this as if my money were stolen.

I don't know if this is helpful information or not but I actually did get half of my order, I received a CWU45 jacket in the mail around May or June 2015. This was from a spot I purchased from someone else. I don't understand why I only recived  one jacket instead of both. Any insight as to why this happened?

It's too much of a coincidence. These pictures were available a few hrs ago when I posted earlier. And now it suddenly gets deleted by closer21? It's pretty obvious the chief editor of Huffington Post SK is aware of what's going on and is possibly even trying to help Drew hide.

Too bad for him that once you post something publicly on the internet, it's there forever (thanks google cache)

Drew probably still visits the forum, he doesn't need an account to browse, right?

Anyway I've done the petition ages ago. I can't file a bank chargeback cos I used my PayPal balance to pay most of the amount, moreover I bought the spot from someone off here so doing anything will implicate him. Just plain bad luck and foolish naivety in trusting Drew.

Do you have their case numbers that I could use as a reference when calling? They won't budge.

Possibly because your jacket had already been made and was sitting in a warehouse awaiting shipment.  There were apparently a number of items that had already been produced but shelved because Drew was too lazy to figure out the shipping and then drop them in the mail.

That backlog seems to have been cleared out after people here went apeshit on him and forced him to open the warehouse; that left only the items that haven't actually been produced - which is the vast majority of orders.  Unfortunately, after that was completed, Drew Keith disappeared from this forum and as far as anyone can tell, new production has halted/not restarted.

sigh

It's not even the money at this point - 8 bills is enough for a couple pairs of nice shoes but I make enough money that this is not a big hit. What's shitty is that someone took advantage of me. The feeling of being duped and not having much recourse is unsettling. I feel really bad for people who went hard and ordered 4 or 5 jackets each.

Yeah I guess I only had faith because I have a ToJ jacket from 2012. Should have never tried to re-up.

Let's be honest, no one could have predicted the downfall of TOJ. Towards the end there were the signs but after a few years of of pretty good service no one was going to think this would have happened.

A sports analogy: it would be like saying you could have predicted that Gilbert Arenas was going to go from perennial all-star to falling off after the firearm charges.
