TOJ - updates on the debacle, complaints, news about other ventures, whatever. - Page 281

Honestly I'm surprised the word 'swag' still gets much play, especially on a forum like this since Hip Hop basically killed it in the last recent years.

how about "swag is dead"?

I agree that my suggestion of Téméraire ou Jouissance doesn't fit into the nonsensical category, but I was just trying to capture the history behind TOJ. As a Media/Marketing student, I'm trying to provide a name that'll appeal to people as something interesting, as well as being a conversation starter in real life. Many times I've been approached by individuals inquiring about my TOJ bomber. Instead of saying the old "custom made from these guys in Korea", i wanna be able to tell them a story that'll make them even more interested in the product and the brand.

I dunno about many of you, but once I hopped onto TOJ, reading stories that Drew has posted here about the history of TOJ and his past experiences has made me feel closer to the brand, almost as like getting to meet a new close friend (brand loyalty right there). It's great to know someone has achieved success in this world based on their entrepreneurial ideas. People should naturally be interested in the story behind it, and it also gives myself hope for ideas that I have in my head that I might try to implement in the future.

I think a bigger problem with the suggestion is the lack of english in it

Keeping in the toj fashion. the "other" jesus.

I think it's just too full of itself for a project like ToJ, which has always been pretty tongue-in-cheek and down to Earth. This try-hard French name just seems antithetical to that. I can at least appreciate the meanings behind it. And at least the word "swag" isn't in there. By the way, I guess I'll just throw my suggestion out there now: A Blinking Eye Sort of a reference to the badass eye design in the current ToJ logo, which would be nice to see stay in some incarnation but maybe it won't. It's also a reference to the way the entire operation works; items come and go in the blink of an eye, just suddenly appearing and vanishing through forum threads. No real marketing, all being passed on through word of mouth and pictures on the internet. A project that we've all watched continuously evolve, changing every time we blink. I also think it meets the Engrish requirement, I can definitely see a Tokyo or Harajuku shop with a name like this (I'd also come up with Beholder Beast but this probably too nerdy for ToJ haha)

I guess if English is what Drew wants it. I'm sure many people can use my base idea to come up with something in English. I just feel attempting to capture a whole range of emotions and meanings in 3 words is hard in English; perhaps its my familiarity with the language, and the lack of plural meanings in many English words. edit: uncontrol, that sounds pretty interesting.

Drew is the major reason why countless hours at work had gone by (a bit) faster. I always ask him random stories to kill time.

I disagree with you on the telling the story part though. If I ask someone about an article of clothe they're wearing...I just want the name and where I can get it, not a history lesson. But then again I'm a busy guy, I don't have time to chit chat with random folks in real life.

I have to make schedule with my friends a month or so in advance to hang out and catch a movie.

The last time I chilled was to go see Tron. This is why I have e-friends on here.

Random folks sometimes ask me about stuff I'm wearing, ie the painted MMM GATs...I always give them answers that are straight to the point and tell them I really need the time to do my homework. (Starbucks is my temple of homework place )

No idea why, but I found this hilarious.

"Hey man, cool shoes. Where did you get those?"

"Fuck off aite, I have homework."
