hi everyone, i just purchased a toj1 off of drew, but i told him to put in on hold for me due to the sizing. i got his opinion in regards to his sizing and i know that he is probably the most credible person to talk to, but i just want to double check since this is my first toj piece and i hear that this the toj1 is a bit more slim fitting relative to the other jackets toj has produced....anyway, my advice that i am seeking is more for the people who actually purchased the toj. i am usually a 36 (or 46 for euro) in blazers/jackets, about 5'8, aiming to be 140 (im close) pounds, and my best fitting oxford has a back length of 27.75 in, pit to pit of barely under 19, shoulder to shoulder of 17.75... would you say that i am a 46 or a 48 for the toj1? the length seems a bit short for the 46, but the p2p seems ideal. im thinking that adding an inch on the length would work. what do you guys think? i asked drew for his opinion, but would love to hear others...sorry for the flood of another measurement question, but i hope you can sympathize. thanks!
Most likely a 48 with adjusted length. I've owned a bunch of TOJ jackets, and now I realize for non-leathers / non-coats, I have to size up (especially if the lining isn't the regular cupro lining). A few things to keep in mind is that the sleeves are pretty slim and the reversible side adds a little bulk to the jacket.
Edit: For a reference, I am 5'7", 130 lbs and the 44 was too tight on me even though the measurements looked fine (didn't take the reverse into account when I ordered).
That's kind of reassuring. I ordered a 48 with -1" sleeves and I'm 5'10 135 lbs. Gonna gain like 5 lbs though.
Just wondering when you said perfect, is it perfectly slim? Or perfectly relaxed if you understand what I'm trying to get at.
I think it fits bang on, not too slim or relaxed. The reason I was initially put off by raglan sleeve varsities is that you rarely see it done right. But with Drew's patterning and making the shoulders snug and armholes high, it looks bad ass. I'd say the chest is a bit relaxed in comparison to the armholes/shoulders but it creates a great shape when unzipped and doesn't look skin tight when zipped up.
I think the only concern is just sizing properly for the shoulders/arm hole but best to trust Drew/Charly on this.
