medium is a dark amber
dark whisky is like, well, actual dark whisky or rum.

So more like this?

Which one do you think suits the MDR best?

I like the look of the darker/richer whisky (both the medium and the dark), but I wouldn't want something too close to the chocolate brown of my moto. Does the dark whisky start to look like the chocolate brown lambskin?

1. Whisky (any of the three, but probably the light or medium) calfskin 2011 Moto - 4 zip front
2. Black lamb CWU-45 (gave my first one to winq)
3. Whisky (dark) calfskin 2010 DR

Love them all. And I also wondered why there aren't more 2011 4 zips. Not sure if it's just me but I like the 4 zip better than the collard moto. peepwall[1].gif Ultimately, if it were me, dark/medium 2011 4 zip moto. Don't think light would look flattering.

I've always liked the idea of a navy 4 zip moto...

Also put me down for a navy with black trim peacoat. I've never wanted to throw money at someone so much.

yeah that is probably more similar. Any of the colors work really. Personally I'd prefer to see these new calfskin colors in the 2010 DR style myself, I like when that model gets lightened up. I might try making a Quilt DR in the calf to see if it works, but it'll be kinda difficult.

.... except that Bombers can't be made in calfskin.

Looking at the swatches, crumpling them up a bit, I think the the medium is the best of the 3. All are pretty good though, like I said, this is the finish I've been looking for, for years now. They are the right combination of deep colored, tough, clean and smooth surfaced, and they're just begging to take on some creases and patination. Seriously, 2 years of wear on a 4-zip Moto in one of these whisky shades = lifetime of success.

You know how a lot of movie leathers are always the wrong style or design, but they always choose great, deeply finished leathers? In reality, if you ever wore one of those jackets, you'd look like a toolbag, because the designs usually suck (Fight Club jacket much?) but there are also so few leather jackets out there that are 'perfect' to the point of getting virtually everybody's compliments on a grand scale. The MMM 5-zip I have is that jacket, but the reason is, it's 12 years old, and has that much wear in it. The creases and patination are amazing, it gets women wet, it gets guys to be my friend, people fear you and respect you, people who don't know the first thing about clothes are usually the first people to comment on it and you feel like they're suddenly moving towards being interested in clothing - it's the combination of a great simple yet modern design, with honest wear. Do those painted finish grey Rick Owens jackets do that? I don't think so.
I really feel that a 4-zip Moto in the Medium whisky calf could reach that kind of level if somebody got one and broke it in properly, that's really not stretching it. It's just that it's a combo of the right jacket and the time and wear on the part of the right person.

When you mentioned the whisky leathers, only the 4 zip came to mind. Though I do not have a bomber yet and do feel that there is a place in my wardrobe for it...the 4 zip seems to be much more...interesting. You are seriously making me consider it now haha.

Didnt you mention once that the dude who makes the bombers kept bitching about the calf leather

Also I reckon you should make the Medium whiskey moto for yourself

Has anyone gotten the CWU45 at all? Id like to see more pics. Hopefully in brown
