take comfort in knowing that you are all investors in Drew's restaurant and his M series.

im sure if you went to korea with your paypal receipt, he will give you free burgers and a nice sit in his car.

I don't mind the 15 month wait, why pisses me off is that I was told several times a long the way that my jacket was ready to ship

People who own both the A-2 and an MDR/Moto etc, how does the thickness of the A-2 compare? I'm assuming it's made to be more of a winter jacket what with the fur collar, but are they actually made to be thicker/warmer in the body?

The black lamb on my MDR felt thicker than the brown unglazed goat on my A-2.

The MDR weighed in around 3.0 lbs while the A-2 was closer to 2.5 lbs with shearling collar attached.

It's not really a good test though, because they're different materials and different jackets.

The MDR probably just felt thicker to me because lamb itself has a "meatier" feel to it.

Maybe he'll let us skip the wait for a table.

My A-2 is the most thin out of the lamb TOJ I own/owned. The MA-1 is a bit thicker as is the MDR, and the moto feels almost like a really supple calfskin. It's also the warmest. I'm guessing it's more or less random in terms of texture and thickness for each jacket since some seemed to have received a thicker A-2

Hmm, I always assumed that the A-2 was made to be thicker. Not sure if it was the collar or that it's usually a boxier cut than the MDR that gave me that impression.

What would you say is the coldest weather you could wear it in? Do you use it as a winter jacket?

I don't think there's any correlation between model and leather thickness. I've had five toj leathers, in slightly varying thicknesses, including two A-2s in different colors (one of which is slightly thinner, but both are fairly thick). There's no extra padding and the shearling collar snaps off, so they're great for year-round wear, provided you live in a temperate climate. The collar is great for late fall/early spring. I've found it a bit chilly during winter, but passable with a scarf and gloves.

Shame to hear people are having trouble with toj. For my part, I've had nothing but good experiences. 8 tojs in total (5 still with me), and they're fantastic jackets. I also ordered the backpack, but I knew what I was getting into when I ordered it, so I don't care about the wait.

been thinking about changing my a2 order from brown to black lamb recently

thoughts?

currently have the placket on it but no suede patch if that makes a difference

edit:

also, is it just me or does the brown lamb come in different shades between an almost black brown and a brown brown?

is it really just a matter of the lighting?

Yeah the brown lamb shade seems to vary a lot.

yeah. not just lighting, but different camera sensors render colors differently and most phone cameras have awful white balance algorithms (the phenomenon where some pictures come out looking too blue or yellow)

Mid 40s...possibly low 40s..comfortably. Some probably wear it into the 30s but I would probably just throw on a warmer jacket by then.

The moto I have is quite a bit thicker and noticeably warmer.

Put in a few small changes in measurements to allow for layering. Was told to expect end of year/early '15, which I already anticipated since I have a mid-late-Dec '13 order.
