The original TOJ0

Seeing as it's the first TOJ jacket ever conceptualized.

Drew has mentioned more than once, that the people making the jackets are in their 60-70's and will retire, when they are finished with Toj.

In South Korea, tailors capable of handling jackets should not be that hard. Training? They come trained and really just have to make minor adjustments which half decent tailors can pick up. My boy got a replica Margiela 5 zip made in Kangaroo leather after his original was jacked at a bar. I tried it on and measured the shit out of it compared to my original and no difference. Sent him a msg to post pics.

There is profit margin. I happen to know margins of small Italian shops making for well known EU names. Trust me there is margin for Drew given where these are made. He needs to raise the prices a bit to hire some people to handle customer service and possibly more tailors. Or just simplify the process if people don't want to pay the premium for regular customer service. Here is how you measure it, send us the measurements and we will live up those measurements. No questions or modifications. Didn't get the right fit? Order another and sell yours to someone else with a crooked body.

I should get together with a partner and offer to buy his business if he still had tailors willing to work. Although, have also considered setting up something like ToJ in Italy.

Really? Was the price well known?

Unfortunately because of the lack of updates on TOJ's FB page I missed their final order cut-off date. So I’m looking to buy a spot, order entry date doesn't really matter to me as I’m not really that fussed in when I get it. PM me if anyone is willing to sell theirs

Thanks

No but Drew was entertaining offers and even offered to stay on as a designer "for a while".

I believe he had some Japanese guys, who were fairly serious at one point.

Interesting, ya my partner and I have given this type of business thought. I think at this point it is still possible to setup a rival to ToJ. So, unless the price was right it would be hard to justify. With our initial research we came back with the following: (Of course this is no invitation to order anything as nothing is setup and wouldn't happen without a complete business plan and a separate thread officially sanctioned)

Specialist in A-2 bomber capable of doing in goat leather, italian horsehide. Would be priced around: $1.5k. Authentic to the originals in every way except the fit. Made in EU.

Motos: A different maker located in Italy. Think the level of RO or Margiela level. Calfskin, Nappa lamb. Priced around $1k

Shearling: Think level of Seraphin. $1.5k. Made in Italy.

We would do a sizing system similar to ToJ. Modifiable in arms, body length and body width. That is all.

I think one of the reasons TOJ is so well liked is that their signature leather (lamb) is not thin Italian nappa crap.

Have 2 leather jackets on order since around March. One is a brown lambskin A-2 Bomber and the other is a black lambskin MDR.

I think you can still alter both orders to any leather jacket you wish.

If you're interested in them, shoot me a PM.

It's the toj thread and not the random Chinese sweatshop in Italy thread.
