This is similar to UK. You get taxed regardless of gift or not. It all depends on the value marked on the package. $40USD and under works

I'm from Canada and I've only ever been dinged once by Canada Post since 1997.

Mark as gift, low value. Problem solved.

Stay away from FedEx, UPS, DHL etc. unless you're shopping on sites like Mr. Porter or Luisa where has import/duties included.

Learn to Internet shop people.

Marking the item as a gift is completely useless if the value is greater than $60 CDN....

Wait, so, TOJ customers in the US..? Any duties/fees I should watch out for? Haven't seen anything mentioned about that.

I believe all of the duties and taxes talk is about a marketplace buy...and not a TOJ direct order.

Oh alright then.

TOJ marks it low value and as a gift, you won't get dinged.

Plus it comes in a conspicious grey plastic bag.

FTFY

Yeah, I didn't get dinged for anything, and I recall the value being marked pretty low as well.

Sold off some stuff I don't wear any more to amass the funds for one final TOJ leather.  Torn between a black lamb Double Rider or a black lamb BCDR with chanel quilt, any opinions?  Always a tough decision when ordering from the temple...

I'm pretty lucky here in Australia, we don't get done for anything under $1k, but it still doesn't make up for how royally fucked we are on other taxes, talking about $18USD for a pack of Marlboro's.

so while admiring my ma-1, i've noticed little hairs on the suiting wool that seem to be the down coming through the fabric.

any way to prevent the down coming out? not sure if it's been mentioned before.

^

likely not. All my down jackets have feathers that come through.

Although, I wasn't aware that the suiting wool ma-1 was down-filled?

it's filled with some sort of padding. i'm just hoping it doesn't get worse. i usually don't like to baby my clothes but i think i'll definitely have to watch out for this piece.

it is the poly-fill insulation poking through

happens on mine also

i gave up pulling each piece through when i almost pulled through a cluster (q-tip size) that would have ripped the wool
