^ Yes. $820 for black calf and an additional $50 for any other color.

So just out of curiosity, what exactly was the "front quarter horse-hide" TOJ used to offer? Where'd it fall on the lamb/calf/goat/fqhh spectrum and why did people love/dislike it?

'nother dumb question:

a med. whiskey calf MDR would be $870, right? as per what it says here:

You could buy MrTony92's for $700. Around a size 50

Reporting in.

I bought the TOJ VTG Collared Moto a while ago- maybe a year maybe more. In that time I wore it maybe 20-25 times. Wore it a few weeks ago and as I was bending down I could hear a rip sound in the 'armpit seam' or whatever the term is.

Wrote to the ToJ guys who suggested I take it to a local leather worker.

I would agree that that's a reasonable response, perhaps the only one they could give me. What am I going to do, ship it to them from India, given how heavy it is? But I'm not sure where I would find a leather worker now who could do that with the same quality here in India (for those who don't know, it's one hard mofo of a jacket).

I will say that I am disappointed that a jacket at that price and seemingly so well built could rip like that.

Needs to be added, I don't have a problem with the other ToJs I've bought.

I'm gathering that TOJ makes only a few items per season, is that correct? I'd like to know if he's still making a bomber. What is the typical turnaround time? Thanks!

Guys, I need some advice, or piece of mind, as I'm becoming quite worried. I have a TOJ 0 In size 46 that fits me very well, the shoulders maybe a tad bit too big.

Now I have an MA1 on order as 46, but I'm worried it will be too big. If you take a look at the sizing table, the 46 TOJ0 is far similar to the 44 MA1 than the 46 MA1.

I'm going insane, as I plan to wear it only with Tshirts really, I'm worried that the 46 MA1 will be to big. Can anyone tell me why the 46 MA1 is that much larger than the 46 TOJ 0???

Also here are the measurments of the suit I just had made to measure.

Sleeve Length=24.40
Half Chest=18.89

Half Waist=18.11
Half Bottom=18.11
Half Cuff=5.70
Half Bicep=6.49
yoke=17.32

Seriously going insane here.

Foxhound you have to take into account the padding. I would ask Charly but I assume people would take the same size in both models since you want the ma-1 to be slim.

how many people would be up for paying an "expedited" cost. A fee to have your jacket sooner than planed? Somewhat of a service charge.

If bitches won't touch you otherwise, get a lamb jacket.

Maybe the problem is you guys keep calling them bitches?

Thanks man. I decided to email Charly. I really didn't want to annoy him.

For the guys interested in what backpacks people use. I have an II-SE buffalo leather backpack. It's pretty neat but I would do unspeakable things for the TOJ Backpack V2.

Another question, decent alternatives to the TOJ fishtail parka?

horsehide is thick and stiff, moreso than calf. so it was supposed to be super durable, but also its stiffness could be an issue: you had to size loosely enough that it wouldn't bruise you. More rare, but a somewhat unanswered issue: it could "crack." I recall one guy in the b&s selling one that his somehow had little cracks in the collar; and you can see people occasionally saying similar things about Aero fqhh jackets.

The VTG's leather is burly, so much so that the leather's stiffness is at odds with the strength of the stitching. The leather won't give or stretch, so the stitching gets pulled around a lot. It seems like this is just gonna happen. You're not the first person to report that their VTG has some stitching issues--of the five vtgs I know about, I've heard three of them, including yours, have seams that have come open, Mine isn't doing it yet, but I see one looser seam at the arm end of flap that runs up the forearm from the cuff that I should add a stitch to or something.
As for TOJ's response, it's true, they aren't set up for repairs--I'm not even sure they have anybody who could go pick up a package during business hours. I'd look around internationally for someone with good web reputation, someone you feel you can trust, someone who works on a lot of serious leathers like Aero jackets, and talk to them first about your jacket. Send them pictures, see if you think they're a good working match for you, to get a feel for their response and capabilities.

p.s. where did you get your VTG from--was it new when you got it? Or was it from the marketplace here?
