The new official TOJ thread, 2011 - Page 2217

Lol why....3 zip and 4 zip is so subjective.

I went with 3 since I don't like 4 zippers unless it's on the Double Rider.

Buying a TOJ for most people is nerve racking as it is, with tons of second guessing. The last thing you want him to do is to second guess his initial choice of 3 zippers versus 4 zippers..

So is there a deadline?

I switched to silver zips for my 4-zip MDR.

Hope it isn't too blingy

wtf its gna be blingy but thats the point.

are you changing it because you want it or because hype? i actually think silver is better which is why i would get it not because everyone else says so.

^ I'm sure it'll look great, it's recommended for a reason. I'm not worried about silver zips being too much.

do you guys think this apc jacket is too close to toj?

I know people have mentioned apc copying stuff from toj before.

A black varsity with leather sleeves. Yeah toj must have been the first brand to come out with that idea

I thought this too, but APC has copied from TOJ before from what I've heard. no need for the snarky sarcasm. just wanted to hear what other people thought about this.

Nah I'm switching it because I think the silver contrasts a lot better. I stalked the gallery a bit and it really does make the black lamb pop. I can get other jackets for more subdued looks. If I'm gonna get a full leather might as well make it as awesome as possible.

I'm also guessing that it might be one of those "looks way better in person" type deals--which is what TOJ often is.

Nah, its like that programmer who outsourced his own job to india.

Some guy who works for APC's design department just spends all day jerking off and then forwards some of drew's posts to his boss.

Navy/Sand tan TOJ0 acquired from the post office this morning. What a great way to come back from vacation: into the welcoming arms of a new TOJ.

Initial thoughts:

This jacket is like my fishtail and CWU had a child that enjoys warmer weather, and I love the ballerness that encompasses you when putting it on. I was betting on the colorway being awesome, and after seeing Leather's pics I was really confident. Now having/wearing it myself I'm really glad I went with a non-black jacket. The navy is very dark, and there is definitely a contrast between the jacket and my indigo jeans (not shown well in the pics). I honestly stared at the jacket in my halogen-lit office trying to determine if I had mistakenly received black, but it's most certainly navy. All that to say: my main concern was whether I could pair this well with jeans, there will be no problem with that, and more importantly, this jacket is dope.

Main thoughts:

- Fit is fantastic (stock 52 with +.4 in sleeves)! My body is weird, so I really just determined off my shoulders, but even with the chest being bigger, it still fits extremely well. I probably would have been fine with the stock sleeves, I just added it because my CWU had 28 in sleeves. The stacking, to me, is great! Thanks Charly.

- The jacket is surprisingly light. I'm not sure what I expected, but the wool is much lighter than I had thought it was going to be -- in a good way (and no, I wasn't expecting any of the winter wool). This makes me happy as it will be able to be used more even in those months where it starts to heat up. I'm guessing it's much lighter than I expected, because it doesn't have the cotton lining as the other one did.

- The sand tan leather is fantastic. To me, it's thicker than the black lamb on my CWU, and while quite soft, it lacks that "buttery" feeling that we all talk about in regards to the black lamb. That being said, this jacket has made me think: WHOEVER IS ON THE FENCE ABOUT THAT SAND TAN, CHANNEL QUILT, BCDR -- DO IT! THE LEATHER IS BONER JUICE SWAG.

- Finally, The Black Guy in my office gave me a head nod and then tried it on. He didn't use the word's "steeze" or "swag" but he did do a sort of dance in my jacket. I think he approved.

Final thought on materials:

Not sure if Drew intended it at the beginning (I am relatively new still), but in holding the TOJ0, I realized this is a great first jacket to buy. It's an awesome hybrid as it introduces you to the main materials you might encounter in other TOJ products -- wool and leather. And while not the same wool as the winter jackets, it's this "appetizer" that shows you not only the quality you can get in other TOJ jackets, but also the remarkable material that they use. This also makes me really happy that I ended up getting a T1, instead of another leather. Because, at the end of the day, what TOJ has done for me has broken down any sort of preconception that I have of materials in jackets (also fit and quality construction -- but I've been astounded most with material). Showing what a truly nice leather or wool jacket can be. In the end, I'm excited to see what can be done with the suede they use, and then I feel like I will have rounded out my TOJ stable with a sampling of each material (minus the different types of leather).

Anyway, thanks team TOJ! You know you would have my wallet if you continued on -- hopefully you will someday!
