bemberg vs. sateen....  there's all this talk about the two but i haven't seen any real reasons why bemberg is better.  is it a different feel?  is it warmer or colder?  does it hold up better than sateen over time?  are they the same color?  (i have a brown lamb A2 in the queue)

i know it's only a $15 upgrade so it's probably worth it considering i'll be keeping my A2 for a loooooooooong time.  i just want to know the differences between the two materials.

Drew says it doesn't really matter.  New ones have bemberg, old ones have sateen.  I suppose the reason is that they have a stock of sateen and they have to use it up.

Remember, we all had sateen since the inception and nobody really cared one way or the other.

exactly...people are making a bemberg out to be a big deal and i'm just curious why.

Materials-wise, it's now all of the best that we have, which is kinda fitting since it's the original model and deserves to get brought back to the front. So we'll put that up soon.

I don't actually know the difference between bemberg and sateen, but I take Drew at his word when he talked about the TOJ0 incorporating all the best materials he has. Thus, I'd gladly pay $15 for the upgrade to a better material.

The difference is pretty negligble that Drew even mentioned in a previous post that he feels silly for even bringing it up.

If this was Bemberg vs Silk, that would be different though. But Bemberg vs Sateen is quite negiglible.

I'm just too lazy to add it to my order. Most of my jackets will come with Bemberg anyways.

The MA-1's lining says bemberg/cupro. Are the sleeves lined with one and the body the other or is it just a blend of the two?

I would like my jacket lined in samgyeopsal please.

In my experience, Bemberg has a nicer hand and more expensive/substantial look and feel to it.  Sateen is sometimes a little too "satin-y" if that makes any sense.  Forgive my lack of a better descriptive word.

Just do it.  Most likely everyone's had their hand on sateen at one point in their life.  Try bemberg.  It's not going to kill your jacket and make you regret getting it.

Just picked up my black/black TOJ0 from the post office and snapped some quick & dirty fit pics. The sizing is spot on. I'm only wearing a tee (it's pretty long btw) in the pics, but it just fits a hoodie underneath as well. I'm 5'11 160 pounds, pretty thin and went with a size 48 with size 50 body/sleeve lengths.

I own a TOJ fishtail parka as well and the wool used in the TOJ0 is definitely finer, softer the the touch and obviously not as thick as the melton used on the fishtail. As has been said to death already, the black lamb is incredibly soft and substantial. Sad to hear TOJ is shutting its doors but I also have a black lamb 2013 DR with silver zips/hardware on the way and I'm happy to have purchased the varsity, easily worth the wait and price.

I've read somewhere that bemberg lining breathes better as well.

Bemberg is cupro, as far as I know.

This next link is going to increase Bemberg sales lol...

Here is another article on Sateen

The Bember article is written better....so it's a bit skewed.

The materials scientist in me actually glowed upon reading that first article. Drawn polymer fibers. Yum.
