I like the complexity of the hues in the diesel blue. Looks really cool. The above photo of the black looks like it has different hues in it too, which was why I thought it was blue. Whatever color Synthese got has these properties too. I'm not sure if the navy will be as interesting like that, or if it will come off as more of a solid color, like the green and sky blue seem to in the photos I've seen.

Looks like a green. Synthese has a grey.

From what I understand, goat is more durable (read: abrasion resistant) than calf while also being lighter in weight.

Graded Scale of High-Speed-Door-Kicking-Shit:
Lamb < Calf < Goat < Horsehide < Dragon Scales

Scale for getting bitches is the inverse.

You need to work on your reading. He did have a TL;DR. You missed it. That was a helpful post for newbs.

^Drew changed the daypack bottom from goat to calf for durability.

Yeah, I would (without having handled all of the toj hides...obviously thickness and tanning make a difference) put it at:

Lamb < Goat < Calf < Horse

But I mean...what are you comparing it to? Versus a ballistic nylon ski jacket, they are all more subject to cosmetic damage in normal use. Versus a nice suit jacket, they are all going to be pretty good....and yet the nice suit costs more than the TOJ and the ski jacket costs less.

You guys should compare them by swag.

Lamb = Goat = Calf = Horse

Wish there was a black horse so I could get in a knife fight.

I'm comparing them because those are the options available to us. We have wool (but i'm not talking about the MA-1), and ballistic nylon isn't even an option.

I don't know why Drew changed the bottom of the daypack from goat to calf. If I had to guess, it'd be because calf is thicker, it will bear weight better than goat, which is thinner/lighter. But I have handled all four hides while I was contemplating copping a Langlitz, and those are my findings. Note that my scale is in terms of abrasion resistance, not weight-bearing.

What's the difference between the glazed and unglazed goat?  Is one just a little shinier?  And which would look better in an A-2?

Don't we all.

Drew, please save us with a new prototype teaser or something. We will place offerings of fried chicken, truffles and a nice blanc de blancs at the altar.
