So there must be some A-2 brown lambskin bombers that are just as soft as the black lambskin MDR? 

I also have one in black and one in brown lamb, and they definitely feel different. My impression is that the brown is a bit thinner, and consequently a bit softer out of the box. They're both really nice, but if I had to rate them, I would rate the black over the brown. All of this is potentially just down to differences between individual hides, though.

This is unnecessarily condescending.  He's asking what would cause one leather to be softer, whether it's the tanning process, the thickness, the age of the animal, etc which is a totally valid question.

 

These are sorted, whether by Drew or at the market I don't know, to pull out all the shitty leathers - ones where the animal ran into barbed wire or had some other injury that would ruin the hide, etc.  From what I've heard of the leather quality, these go beyond that to pick the really supple, thick leathers. Really top-tier leather houses like Hermes, etc will go even further and have almost zero variation between leathers but they charge a shit-ton for that and few here would or could pay the prices they charge.

 

On top of that I'd assume that the way they're dyed probably affects how they end up feeling, i.e. white leather is like painted on which is going to be a totally different thing than a rich brown leather.

The black lamb from my DR and CWU feels, and looks different as well.

I can't remember now, is it switching to stock sizes only (unless you have 'gratuitous proportions'), or was it stock sizes but with adjustable lengths?


I could swear it was written that adjustable lengths was sticking around but now I can't be sure.

Ordered a black goat A-2, but this talk of unglazed goat leather has me wondering if I should go with the old or new black goat. Any thoughts?

Just got my lamb a-2 it's pretty rad. Fits just about perfect, I could have taken it out a little bit and probably be a little more relaxed. The lamb feels very thin compared to my calf dr. I personally prefer the thickness of the calf, but whatever both are awesome. I'm still amazed how well they fit off of measurements I took myself, all I can say is great job guys. I'm going to have to get something in black calf next, probably some variation of the mdr or bcdr, but going to enjoy these two for a while first, thanks again!

Ready for TOJ number 3. Not too sure if my eyes deceive me, but did the original moto 2.1 with copper/gold zips versus gunmetal as standard? Or is it just the colouring of the tapes? Thanks
