You're asking him to make something he explicitly said he doesn't want to make. puzzled.gif

He's crowd sourcing to see what his buyers are interested in...He's made nylon fabric MA-1's in the past which were great...I don't think it's that shocking that when people are asked, they bring up the MA-1 again. I think the wool one is great and am definitely interested in it when it drops, but that doesn't mean there isn't room in the market for another type of MA-1. That wouldn't be too crazy, right?

Reading through requests you can really see the SF group think in motion

Suggesting a new idea is different from suggesting something that's already been described as not in the chef's direction. Those analogies that Drew always brings up?

You're going to a restaurant where the chef has dictated say, a French tasting menu. The menu says at the bottom: "we will not serve hamburgers." Then you ask the chef for a hamburger when invited to the chef's table.

Specifically regarding the MA-1: There's a sous-vide rack of lamb that's going to be a part of the new seasonal tasting menu. You say, "that sounds great chef, but could you deep fry it for me instead and provide a ketchup dipping sauce?"

This isn't the first time nylon/tech has been discussed.

considering the chef has served it before, this is a weird metaphor. nothing wrong with offering a jacket in multiple fabrics... that's kind of what TOJ was built upon.

But he's obviously moved on from it? ToJ's moving into a new direction, even moving onto a new brand name and he's flat out said he doesn't want to make it again.

he can do whatever he wants. that being said, if a large percentage of his customer base feels a certain way it's worthy to take note of that.

Seems like he just makes what he wants to see or has a vision for-- if the labor, material, and costs are there. He used to be against making an N3-B, but when asked recently, he said it's something that can be on the table in the future. As I remember, there was supposed to only be one anniversary model (but two were available to order), and the bball came back in tan and gray calf suede by popular demand. He'll just do what he wants to do in the end, so there's no hurt in asking when he's open to suggestions.

Well, the point of asking what people would like is not to go out and make everything, of course - of all the suggestions so far, only a few are feasible and even fewer are feasible to make and sell... situations do change, though it takes time.

Which are most feasible? Something for us to look forward to through exams!!!
