Thanks willy I saw that, but it's really vague. Fair to assume it's gonna be a spring / fall piece?

Will the wool MA-1s be made in a Japanese factory, or will they be made in the same location as the TOJ leathers?

John Coppidge doesn't do what John Coppidge does for John Coppidge. John Coppidge does what John Coppidge does because John Coppidge is John Coppidge

I have a few suits in super150, and they feel super-luxe, but they also get shiny really fast (elbows mainly). There's always a tradeoff: in this case you get an awesome-looking MA-1 that's going to feel like wearing a fucking cloud, but at the same time it won't be appropriate for urban warfare when the zombie apocalypse starts.

Also, really sorry about bringing this up again, Drew, cause I know you hate it, but I've got an image of a future Coppidge shearling piece in my head and I can't get it out. And that luxe version peacoat you mentioned a while back. I've got a closet full of winter coats, and more often than not I end up wearing my toj pea which I love, but I'd definitely find room for another one with nicer fabric.

One of the reasons why John Coppidge will exist. TOJ at times limited itself because I think there was a price perception for many things (unrelated to actual market costs or raw costs, something simply attached to the brand) - there were some next next level things I could've made but naturally, cost of materials goes way up and it becomes more esoteric - who out there is able to gauge a fabric's quality in that way? Some can, but not all - we found a medium with TOJ so that it could be shown we were punching above our weight, without a doubt. There's much nicer textiles (not sure about leather, as we buy the best already) wools - for sure, there's a whole world out there and they cost a ton. I was admiring a roll of 100% cashmere today that costs $350 a yard. There's almost no coat I can make with that, that wouldn't cost over $3,000 to sell. It won't even be able to be a John Coppidge piece. On the other hand JC, might be able to feature one or two-off pieces in limited cloths that I can get my hands on, with me as the pilot, and just have them out there without the chance of them repeating or anything. Just a constant range of new things.

I'm sure people would be happy if you released something like the chesterfield again, even if it wasn't in some super-luxe material wink.gif

The chesty took over 4 yards of fabric, the fishtail over 5. Decent wool is very expensive, add anything nice to the content like cashmere and I'm looking at way more in my fabric cost than what a lot of things on the market sell for at retail. It's just very dependent on scales of economy, I might be getting ripped off, who knows. I have a little room to play with, but we're talking on a little and I must be creative with what I have. THere is no dream store where raw materials are cheap and perfect for every purpose.

Still working on the warmth technicals. Got little advice today but we always end up finding some sort of guru, and each piece of our stuff ends up more warm than I ever intend it to be, so I have hope.
