I don't get why waterproofing is such a big thing. If I want a waterproof jacket i want it longer, wider and hooded. I mean, I've taken the quilted goretex and the ae ones out in the rain and both times I would have fared better with an umbrella or actual rain jacket
I don't think people want waterproof for use as a rain jacket, at least not me. I just want to be sure it will survive. Waterproof in the same way as a cell-phone is what I want.
I've searched the thread, but 821 pages is a hell of a lot to sift through.
Do we have confirmation as to when TOJ is going to cease operations?

Verdict: some liked it and would kop (didn't tell them the price)
Some wanted a non quilted option.
One chick didn't like the transition of how/where the quilting ends. "Too sudden" in her opinion.
Asked about 7-8 women and reviews were good overall.
I'm not planning on showing my girlfriend the TOJ women's because she already lusts after my DR enough that I'm afraid I'd be on the hook for another leather purchase, this time for her.
We made a girl try the BCDR on last night, actually - I too have been thinking about modulating where the quilting goes, but actually, it looked quite good and I think I'll roll with it. We took some iPad pics but the jacket was a size too big for her. I did realize that it's one of those jackets that's just a bunch of random angles and shapes when on the hanger, and then when put on by a woman, it transforms into something else entirely. Maybe I have more to learn about women's clothing....
By the way Drew, regarding non-backpack bags: I've been looking off and on for a (preferably leather) carry-on type (briefcase/ tote/ duffel styled), and there's almost nothing worth a damn under $1000. I mean newer brands like Want Les Essentiels and Mismo are charging insane prices for freaking cotton/canvas. Then you've also got brands like Ghurka and Cherchbi etc. charging a lot for tweed.
yeah, well, that's just an extension of the leather goods business, just like leather jackets. If people put anything into the design of a piece, the price usually jumps like crazy. If nobody gives a damn about the design and let some sweatshop kid in Pakistan 'design' it, then it goes to Wilson's or Revolve Clothing's cheap site under an edgy, modern name.
