Being in Texas I have not owned an jacket in a while. I had a Andrew Marc but I no longer like the fit.

Charly said a 54 stock should suffice. If I would have seen his fit pics I would have most def not went with his suggestion.

I know my measurements pretty well.

If I decide to purchase another what size do you suggest? I am a large in most european jackets and a medium if they are regular fit.

My intitial thought was to get a 50.  Until I learned that a 52 was a large.

----Start of email to Charly

Ok, I bought a Levi's Slim Denim Jacket just for this.

Here are the following measurements of the jacket (i like the fit)

Shoulders 19"

Pit to Pit     22"

Mid             22"

Waist          21"

Front          24.5"

Sleeve       27"

Sleeve Widths
 bicep          8.5"

elbow         7"

wrist            5.5"

My Measurements are:

Shoulders 18"

Chest 42"

Waist  37"

Front   21"

Sleeve 27"

I am 6'3" and weight 210 lbs.

With this info can you advise me on what size I should go with. I would like it to fit slim.

I was considering 50 but not sure.

I just want my first TOJ to be a good experience.

Thanks in advance.

one of the key problem to your fit is that the sleeve width are too large, hence the billowing of the arm section. I guess you sized the length of the arm alright, but to get the right webbing of the stacking, the width needed to be much smaller.

the same problem goes with the waist section - I think the overall length of the jacket is passable (can make it 1~1.5 inch shorter, if nitpicked), and the shoulder/chest doesn't seem too large for your proportion, but there's a huge billowing in the waist section that makes you look bigger in the middle section of the body. Probably needed to cut waist/midsection sizing.

shit happens, I think that's the main problem we get when we have to resort to online ordering, especially when meticulous measurements needed to be modified to individuals (MTM). Some people get the best results, while others, like many have said before, either be done with it or learn for future reference.

I suggest you either get it to the tailor to reduce the width of arm & midsection if that's manageable at this point. You can try selling it on B&S also, but the money you are losing at resale probably is substantial enough that maybe you can just pay 40-50 dollars to look right for you to consider wearing it again.

Denim to Toj fit looks damn close IMHO

problem is that you're A shaped and toj is meant for V shaped people, a full mtm jackwt might have worked but in order to accomodate your gut you had to go up to a 54 when you should be in a 52 based on chest and shoulders. but yes it is too long, but that levi's jacket is too long too.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

My thoughts exactly. You unknowingly got exactly what you asked for.

Some kid in my history class at NYU has a black lamb MDR and its really making me want one. Jacket looked so fucking good.

I didn't realize that jacket didn't have full MTM options....

that sort of explains it. I mean it is a shame it looks the way it does in the first pic, (the pics from the other side look better)...but if you can't adjust the waist vs chest, you are going to get funny business going on.

^TOJ1 isn't full MTM

Nowadays the order flow has shrunken for now and we're looking at about 8 weeks or less. It only depends on the rate of orders per day vs the rate of orders deliverable per day, the latter is fixed.

Sounds great, I'm at the 8 week mark now, so getting closer then I guess. Can't wait! Thanks for the feedback.

Sudden few inches of snow up in NYC makes me want a fishtail, but the ~8 week wait gives me pause. In other words, what synthese said.

hopefully they will do 1/2 sizes, like 46, 47 48 49, etc ^_^

While not only highly unlikely, this is also unreasonable. How many brands have a medium and a half?

Eh, many manufacturers have suit/jackets in odd sizes, like 43,45, etc. They aren't super common, but also, not so rare. That said, I am not convinced sizing up really looks that different if you are between sizes.

Also, as I have said before, TOJ has done this in the past:

Order size 52, then work off an inch or two at the gym in the next 8 weeks.
