I have realized that every customer (including myself) of TOJ/JC go through a three phase trend.

Phase I (The Excessive Questioning Phase, est. time frame: 1 week - indefinite):
1. Bug Charly
2. Bug thread
3. Repeat loop

ie. Should I get lamb/calf/goat in black/brown/olive/red/yadda yadda

Phase II (The Wait, est. time frame: 4 weeks - 23 weeks):
1. Be sure to post in thread what you copped
2. Doubt self measurements
3. Remeasure
4. Bug Charly (potential further delays)
5. Repeat steps 2, 3, & 4

Phase III (The Self Doubting Phase aka. Blame Charly Phase, est. time frame: directly proportional to insecurity level):
1. Measure jacket
2. Compare to Charly's recommended measurements
3. Post pictures
4. Get bombarded by users who think jackets should be skin tight
5. Downward spiral of drugs and alcohol
6. Sell jacket
7. Jacket was actually great but it's too late
8. Regret and tears
9. Blame Charly

Yep compared to this board I would be fat. Im 6'3" and 210. I got sick once and got down to 185. Ive seen cats my same height post that they weigh 150-165. How in the hell? 

 

 

Funny, this is my experience but even before I considered a TOJ I understood why this was the case.

So, just to be in line with the last few posts, we are expecting a wait time up to 23 weeks at the current moment?

Honestly, looking through my email at how many times I asked Charly to change my measurements while waiting on my MDR is kind of embarassing. Over stupid shit too... like .2-.5"

The wait time really depends on what model you order / if you make silly changes to your order after you place it / etc.

More than a year, I used to wear TOJ bomber almost everyday. Calf was nice, durable and enjoyed wearing it both with and without its fur collar. Overall good purchase. As much as I like it, I don't wear it often anymore, because it's brown (color that I am not a fan anymore) and p2p is slightly too tight atm. 

what color would you prefer?

The jacket is 2010 bomber, so I think brown was the best choice. Right now, I'd probably buy some different style in black or grey and most likely it wouldn't be leather at all, but if it was leather then black.

I've had 5 jackets made so far- tan baseball, VTG calf (now developing into a golden brownish shade), black lamb moto, brown goat bomber, and navy peacoat. Except my first order when I queried when it would get to me, and the last time when I lost 15 pounds of weight and my measurements actually changed, I don't think I've ever unilaterally gotten back to TOJ once I've placed an order. They've always delivered in the 90%range (fit, style, materials). 100% would only come if it's bespoke, which is not bloody likely for me for 'casual' stuff.

I'm more than happy.

Then again, I'm 44 years old and my reasons for buying TOJ have more to do with purchasing a durable, high quality MTM product that- with good care- will last me a long time, rather than look stylish or fashionable (i'm not using either word as as a pejorative) or worry about precise/ exact fits.

However, for the same reasons stated above, I also think I already have the spectrum of TOJ jackets I need, and at this stage I believe that it would now take something extraordinary for me to purchase another jacket. The shirts and trousers are another matter- I have not yet made up my mind about those.

What do you think about English shoe makers with black TOJ leather? For example Trickers Stow
Might be too old man?

thenewjs, it's too long, and the sleeves far too long, also da fuck did you get that lining for?????? think the toj1 needs to fit slim ish to look it's best!
