I used some obenauf's leather oil and just went at it with my hands, then used some clips to keep it down for 1 night and voila!

I think Drew mentioned in the past that he just soaked the collar (in water), to make it more pliable and just molded it from there (not 100% sure).

As for the second picture you linked, it actually looks like the guy has snaps to keep the collar down like that.

I think I mentioned this before but no one took me seriously - wet
(if lamb) and condition if calf, saturate it til it's floppy, then use a large rubber band like that which you get on a bunch of broccoli from the supermarket, or a hipster girls headband. Hang it zipped up, collar closed that way overnight or for a couple nights, refresh as necessary -It will keep the collar held in the middle with that reverse roll.

I hope I don't get shot for asking this but is it possible to have the waist taken in on the trousers? I sized up two on mine, the fit is pretty sweet actually when they stay on my waist but it does look kinda sloppy when they start sliding down. Have the trousers been engineered in such a way where that's not possible with the elasticated waist?

Yeah, like Synthese, I'm going to have to disagree also. Though, I do love my calf jackets, they're pretty heavy. I've worn them for 15+ hours at a time, taking them off for maybe an hour or so, and I can tell you that they wear you out! I think it's great to have both for different purposes. smile.gif

jesus. i dont know what to say and I don't want to resort to macho-isms, but you gotta man up if you're jacket is wearing you out...

I'll admit that my backpack, when loaded up, gets pretty tiring. but your calf jacket?

the italian calf jackets were (are) no joke.

I don't know how long you've worn your calf jackets for but 15+ hours everyday for a week can get rough. Then again, I'm a small Asian dude at 5'9" 160.

I dunno man, try wearing a VTG for 20+ hours of travel and ten days of solid, constant use. It's kind of a relief to have a lamb jacket to wear. What's not to like about it? I love that stuff, it feels like the softest little glovesies.

the VTG is a completely different story.

I agree. The difference in wear experience between lamb and calf is fairly dramatic. It will take a good 30 or 40 wears for calf to start feeling comfortable in movement. Lambskin wears the same on day 1 and day 50, no breaking in necessary
