trying to copy that jacket's measurements for a TOJ would be a disaster.
Really? I was just going to take a shoulder, chest and length measurement and match it as close to a toj according to the sizing chart.
I think he raf fits well, overall (shoulders hit the right spot I think?)

If not, I'll do the generic method of measuring myself

Just do the measuring thing. That Raf has a very slouchy fit (which I don't like, but it's intentional and not what toj is patterned for) and will probably make things much harder.

Yeah, that makes sense redface.gif

Going back to Korea on Thursday, going to ship two week's worth of stuff again (not been sending every week since Dan is still in LA)

This morning it came to me, I want to make the most ballin OCBD ever. I have the fabric and buttons already, and know who is going to make this jawn for me already as well. Just gotta run it up. I have really been enjoying buying and wearing these Italian dress shirts that are more than half handsewn, have the thick dished MOP buttons and stuff, I thought - what if I do this, and make it in OCBD style? Then I can wear that level of quality casually, day to day (it could be a dress shirt too, if you wear OCBDs with suits) - basically, combine the right fabric and buttons and then put it together in the finest way possible - that should put it on the top of the heap. Definitely not a shirt for the everyman, and it's not some bullshit factory-made BoO knockoff in a million fabric choices ( there will only be two or three colors - white and blue) - I want to make TOJ shirt v.2 something insane.

What's all this talk of measuring -- I thought MTM was over?

Honestly my TOJ OG blue OCBD is hands down my favorite shirt. Thick MOP buttons, contrast collar and cuffs, awesome fabric that can be worn through all seasons. Cannot wait to see your version 2

I don't know what she will charge me for labor, so we'll have to see. It obviously won't be cheap, I can tell you that - the fabric alone at raw cost is almost $50 on it's own, and we're talking one woman making the entire shirt on her own, mostly by hand. She has experience making shirts in Europe for the big names. Needless to say, it won't be price battling with all the factory-made OCBDs on the market. I suspect we won't sell too many of them, as they won't be cheap enough to cop in the multiples - but there's only going to be the two or three possible colors anyway, so it won't be one of those situations where you feel like you 'gotta catch em all' and end up spending $2000 on cheaply made shirts. I'm trying to go for the opposite here, quality over quantity. I just wear the same white BBBF oxford most days. It fits absolutely horrifically, but it is made pretty well. I need to get something even more nicely made, in a fit I like. If I can do that, I might finally reach staple status with it, wear it til it's frayed, wear it even past that point.

I think if she's not too busy, we might be able to see it release on it's own this month. Separate manufacturing means it's not related to the load of jacket orders.

Oh, and we'll continue to use the same size chart, but with v2, I'm open to allowing length changes. That suits most people. I really like the TOJ shirt block, I just wish I could push the quality way up to untouchable status - and now, that's what I am going to attempt to do.
If there's a genuine need for MTM and people can handle the responsibility of measuring themselves, I can consider that too. Part of it being the ultimate shirt means it needs to fit properly too, obviously. Since it's mostly a casual shirt, we may only need basic measurements, like 4 or 5.

If you ever care to consult on MC attire or just suiting in general including: suit, PS, tie, shirt, shoe and other misc. things from choice of color to fabric and cut, I would be interested.
As someone who understands SW&D pretty well and also knows what he wants from the MC side of the wardrobe, I'd be very open-minded to learn a few things and even buy your "services".
Every time you mention anything proper like an OCBD my mind starts dreaming of things. I dig your MC interpretation.

just an fyi i guess
