The new official TOJ thread, 2011 - Page 1418

I have this backpack:
laptop17black.jpg

It works pretty well. With the pocket in the back for the computer it's quick through airport security. It's also pretty rainproof. It does have some flaws, the design is super recognizable and hipster-ish when I really just want to blend in with a hint of stealth-wealth or whatever. Secondly people keep asking me if I'm danish when I use it. There are worse things to be called but it's still annoying. Therefore, TOJ daypack with quick access to computer, since I live in the UK/Norway must be waterproof or water resistant. Would imagine similar pocket set-up to the one I posted but with much more rounded top corners and possibly a bit taller. Material thick canvas in black or navy. Bottom covered in leather. Also thicker straps.

Where is styleforum standing now and what part of the graph is trending? Do you think the curtains (blog posts) match the drape (meat of the forum, i.e. the taste of SWD and MC members)?
Is sufu out of its total slump into irrelevence? I need to check it out again.
What are your curent leanings/style changes?

SF hasn't really changed much as the graphing there was fundamental, but yes I'd maybe shift sufu a lot actually, it's lost most of it's mode leanings and does primarily cheap street stuff, the SW quadrant of that box. Mode is mostly only present as awareness on sufu now. On styleforum, there is still some interest in mode and the branded stuff, so SF doesn't shift from that graph. My own interests have not changed much, I have worn the same clothes for 5 years now, day-in, day-out. There are clothes I'd like to make for myself (and TOJ) that would change the look a bit, but those have been on my mind for awhile.

I think I want to respond to this in another thread, but:

1) we love fashunz, but mid-tier fashunz (both safe and relatively affordable)
2) we post runways and wear ebays
3) I know nothing of sufu
4) To the west. I love tension. It will never end.

smashwindow, I see what you mean by the button stance. You've got me a little more interested in seeing an M43 interpretation than an M65 now. F2s usually show up on ebay intl and yahoo japan, but measurements are all over the place.

And as for my denim comment, my waist is about 28(and Drew wears the same size new standard so I'm assuming his is about the same). Most brands that even offer 28, have actual waists that measure closer to 30. Aside from APC, Dior and maybe Acne, I'm not sure what my other options are.

Bag idea above sounds cool. I'd be interested to hear how Drew feels about bags now.

Dude what are you talking about?  I'm the same size as you and can literally buy any type of jeans.

On a somewhat unrelated note: Is a TOJ Moto that is cut one inch shorter than normal (ie measures 24" in the back) too short for someone who is 5'11"?

trying to figure out the japan post site to see if they have a cheap rate for surface parcels (I've been able to send fat boxes from Korea for like $30 when time wasn't of the essence) - if I can, I am willing to sell a pretty good collection of the last 9 month's of magazines to somebody on here if anyone's interested. Goes with my magazine matrix quite nicely. devil.gif

Every school teacher I've ever had, have had one of those.

If you have something specific in mind just e-mail them and they can probably accommodate you. They're a forum affiliate and the owner seems very open to making custom pieces.

That is very close to what I'm looking for, thanks.

Saw a 4 year old version of the Elk leash I have yesterday, that thing is not going to age well.

I have my dog in a mesh-neoprene harness for walking. It's ugly, but she can't be walked by the collar, and leather harnesses chafe her up. I have thought about actually making my own dog's harness from leather with my own two hands, but not making them to sell... redface.gif Problem with most leather harnesses is that they need to be round-padded pretty much all the way around, I'd probably use that deerskin.

My dog has a harness like this one for walking in the park etc. and nice leather collar for when he goes to work with me etc.

Only problem is that the harness knots his fur and I haven't been able to find a round sewn leather harness in the same design.

Living out of a suitcase with only a shitty prepaid phone camera, but just received my cream 4-zip.

Not tring to cause shit in the thread - but I'm a 28" waist too and buying jeans is a nightmare. The majority of 28" Jeans I have tried either fit like a 30" waist from the start, or stretch to a 30" waist after a few wears. APC are the best I have tried, but I am planning to try a few dior pairs soon. Other than those nothing has worked for me, so I agree with nineohtoo that more options would be nice.

Regarding the jacket in my signature. I'm 5'10'' and the lenght is perfectly fine for me. You can test it by wearing a regular crew neck tee, and then see how far down 24'' will go from the neck of that tee. It all depends on how long your upper body is.

EDIT: And regarding the idea that a wish for a Drew Keith 5-zip would merely be to get a 5zip for cheap:

No, that's not why I, at least, would like to see it done. I would LOVE to see Drew's own iteration of that exact jacket he (seems to) hold so dear. I mean, if anyone knows what's flattering and not-so-flattering about that exact pattern, and how it could be given that timeless twist of toj, it would be him. And, this might be out of ignorance on my part of course, I perceive the 5zip as a fundamental leather jacket cut on par with the DR, Cafe Moto and Bomber. Eventhough I realize it doesn't have the same history. Anyway..

I would be happy to pay 1000+ bucks for toj 5zip, if the cost demanded such a price.
