Well, these are separate events, and you are basically pissing on my fire by trolling SZ when you know you have an incongruent view to what is a very tightly controlled, tightly curated message board that is not only bound in by faust's views, but a groupthink that is amongst the strongest in the internet fashion world. It's absurd on it's own, but you do no favors to it or me by disturbing their 'balance' - let them be, and don't be obnoxious about the product that I made for you as a special one-off. If the jacket itself comes to being viewed as a failure, it's easier for me to write it off as a failure in brand vision and the rare time I handed direction to someone else other than myself, than as a failure in execution, which I have a pretty good record at.

SZ can think what they want to about TOJ, but the Uncontrol Rider didn't come about as part of the normal TOJ line of thinking and production. I make something that is different, to fit a different aesthetic, and you knew that, and everybody else knew that as it happened. Whether SZ beats their chest and think they know about 'quality' or garment production, which they've been doing for years now and never actually stepped up to the plate to do, besides a couple individuals I'd consider not good, that is something different and their own failure, but I am talking about a problem that roots from here and travels.

Fine, fair enough. I at least won't post your jacket there anymore, out of respect for the fact that you made it for me when you didn't have to. However, I'm not trolling SZ, I'm doing it out of a genuine interest and there are some people there who I think give good feedback. I'm a bit disappointed you would misrepresent my intentions like that. I love this jacket a lot, and if posting fits of it on the internet is being "obnoxious" about it, I don't know what to say to you ...

I do think you are overreacting -- you're letting the negative comments of some dudes you just spent a post discrediting overshadow the fact that loads of people -- including regular Toj fans -- have expressed praise for this jacket on here and on Tumblr, with at least a few saying it's one of the best jackets you've ever made.

I bought a pair of these slate grey Outlier shorts last summer and the Schoeller fabric they use would be pretttty sick on a flight jacket (it's got kind of a matte finish). I know the menu's already pretty deep so I'm just shooting the breeze here.

Also, nicelynice's MMM flight jacket in the recent purchases thread got me thinking

I don't know if it's my place to comment, but you're not going to convert SZ with persistence or with volume. If you can predict exactly the response you're going to get, why bait it?

I think their WAYWT thread is an abomination except for a few individuals (mostly female, ironically), but ultimately it's more about conforming to an aesthetic rather than experimenting with it. Their fetish for monochrome artisan clothing isn't going to give ground for a ToJ piece that's more punk than vintage or americana, and while they don't overlap on mindshare at all with the latter two they actively despise the former. Faust & co. don't care about fishtail parkas or even the standard MDR, but they will cheerfully shit over ToJ if their gateway to it is your rider. Which is kind of unfair if it's a one-off.

Well, whatever. I'm not here to cause shit on any level, I have an extreme gratitude to Drew (not just for making this jacket, though that's a big part of it), so I just want to leave it alone. I just wanted to make it clear that the reception of that jacket has been really positive. Drew is right that I should just leave SZ alone -- but I'm naive, not a troll.
