Just by looking through their other posts, it becomes pretty obvious that HWith and blackgothninja7 (don't care enough to check for his real user name) aren't used to offering any special knowledge on fit and construction. Both look as if they joined the website to participate in trade with other users rather than to contribute to any worthwhile discussion that might take place occasionally in that community. Blackwhatever_7(?) seems like some ass-kisser who took a break from the yoox thread to try his hand at building cred on the waywt without posting a fit.

... but that doesn't mean that your outfit didn't deserve criticism. You're wearing a lot of great pieces, but I think that the individual textures clash. Smooth lamb, anaconda, the dull yellow antique zips, destroyed-looking shellac tee, deep black pants, and an even deeper pair of suede butteros. The colors and textures at the top of your outfit contrasts with those at the bottom.

The jacket's great though - one of my favorites alongside the quilted moto and qbcdr. Perfect match of zippers to the color of the jacket - gives it this dark vibe that you wouldn't get with silver or black zips. Would really like to see how the fur that came with it would look matted down and conditioned.

I do believe that dude has no clue what he's talking about. I've handled leather my entire life and believe me, I know good leather when I feel it.

You're not feeling it though you're seeing a picture of it. I dunno about quality but it isn't bunching in any unnatural way so that dude is off about that.

goes far beyond that, has nothing to do with what I've made as a product, unfortunately. I wish Brad would stop baiting SZ, or at least with the jacket I've made him, because it does nothing but bring my work down. SZ itself is a joke, but that was separate from TOJ, until Brad tried to join them, which is disappointing.

While I'll easily grant you that SZ users aren't the market for SZ jackets (I'm sure quite a few of them have one, talking about SZ itself), once it left your (virtual) store it is up to your customers to decide where/how/why they wear the jackets.

I never said my outfit didn't deserve any critique, though I genuinely disagree what most of the suggestions. I just wanted to post a pretty funny comment lol

I don't really see how me posting it on SZ brings your work down. :\

I assume Nereis says this because he has a jacket made of Toj's lambskin.

I agree with you there, but Brad has a history of baiting and forcing an artificial place for his style within forums - happened here at the beginning as well. Perhaps not making the Uncontrol Rider in the first place would've been the more prudent decision, but whether it's his jacket and his online persona that antagonizes, or somebody buying a stock jacket and then wearing a poorly styled outfit with it - yes, I realize that.

People were shit-talking Toj on SZ before I came along, man. I wasn't baiting anyone. :\ The Shellac shirt was received well when I posted it there in RP so I posted the outfit with it. I kinda think you are over-reacting here. This is not going to have any impact on you, anyone taking that shit to heart was not considering buying anything from you in the first place.

Well, these are separate events, and you are basically pissing on my fire by trolling SZ when you know you have an incongruent view to what is a very tightly controlled, tightly curated message board that is not only bound in by faust's views, but a groupthink that is amongst the strongest in the internet fashion world. It's absurd on it's own, but you do no favors to it or me by disturbing their 'balance' - let them be, and don't be obnoxious about the product that I made for you as a special one-off. If the jacket itself comes to being viewed as a failure, it's easier for me to write it off as a failure in brand vision and the rare time I handed direction to someone else other than myself, than as a failure in execution, which I have a pretty good record at.

SZ can think what they want to about TOJ, but the Uncontrol Rider didn't come about as part of the normal TOJ line of thinking and production. I make something that is different, to fit a different aesthetic, and you knew that, and everybody else knew that as it happened. Whether SZ beats their chest and think they know about 'quality' or garment production, which they've been doing for years now and never actually stepped up to the plate to do, besides a couple individuals I'd consider not good, that is something different and their own failure, but I am talking about a problem that roots from here and travels.

Fine, fair enough. I at least won't post your jacket there anymore, out of respect for the fact that you made it for me when you didn't have to. However, I'm not trolling SZ, I'm doing it out of a genuine interest and there are some people there who I think give good feedback. I'm a bit disappointed you would misrepresent my intentions like that. I love this jacket a lot, and if posting fits of it on the internet is being "obnoxious" about it, I don't know what to say to you ...

I do think you are overreacting -- you're letting the negative comments of some dudes you just spent a post discrediting overshadow the fact that loads of people -- including regular Toj fans -- have expressed praise for this jacket on here and on Tumblr, with at least a few saying it's one of the best jackets you've ever made.

I'm not sure by what criteria that is a "failure."
