Hm, for colored leather do you like calf or lamb more, I know you've said before that you generally prefer lamb for black? I bought a DR secondhand in black calf and I seriously want more, but I like this one so much that I think I will go with a colored qdr or a colored mdr in lamb...
On that note I think it'd be interesting to see how many people buy secondhand first and then make a full purchase. Being someone who never really tried leather or anything (I also had a second hand varsity about 2 years ago though) it's seriously incredible feeling, touching, wearing a toj, I can't imagine anyone who would be satisfied with just one with so many fucking options out there....
honestly, the TOJ thread is just a world of it's own, it is an absurdist reality. I mostly like it this way too, actually. Sure, there are some annoying things, even for me, but overall I think it's a nice way to keep it moving forward.
Past couple months have been weird as fuck, but yeah, I am still okay, what about you guys?

With semester coming to an end I decided that I was not fit for apparel design, disgusted at nepotism in the department (student faculty alike) . Nor do I seem to have eye popping creativity
Been looking for a pair of boots for 2 months (LOL Dayton Why u never come) Finally narrowed down to Buttero/Ando shoes, still thinking about Stumpton for shitkickers.
Moto, despite the fact that Drew gave me an inch more room it is still fit when worn with a tshirt (maybe I just don't like the tight wrap feeling?)

I'm 5'8 and more or less 17" shoulders if I remember correctly.
I'm the one with a 39" chest and fitting into S/36 coats from a few weeks ago <= Don't follow this sizing advice since my chest is large relative to the rest of my measurements. I also took a little length off.

You know, this isn't the be all end all of something...it's hard for me to relate to that personally, because I only know life as myself, but I don't really feel I'm the most creative person either at times. I do know I lack certain creative talents that would be to my benefit right now if I did have them, because I went to an art academy once and I just couldn't put anything decent out, it was frustrating, and I feel the same way now sometimes. i was stuck there with a bunch of super talented kids who were ready to show off, and I was there just pushing the paint around, proverbially and literally.
Honestly though, the best way to do something in the practical arts is just to do what you want to do, stop thinking about other people for just a moment and think about what you like. Then ask why you can or can't do something, usually it's just some sort of precedent or convention in your way, some perceived block. Problem solve. I know that both Korea and America, the two cultures kinda whirling around in your head, are both cultures full of suffocating stigmas and weird nonsensical agendas that stop a lot of free thinking and creativity from happening, it's part of the cultures. Both countries give you educations that teach you to not question why you're doing something, they teach you to fear and forget.... so just asking 'why?' is a good start sometimes.
Plus, practical arts are messy man, there is no glamour behind to scenes when getting to a point, IMO. You should do what you need to, to find your methods, your voice, something like that. There are lots of old conventions with these things but there's no reason one needs to keep them in the year 2011. I don't have a beautiful atelier fileld with Stockmann mannequins wearing samples, and i dont draw up dramatic fashion drawings replete with chiseled looking 1980's esque fashion men - I just have my own way of working and so should anybody else.
