I gained 2 lbs from Thanksgiving. I gotta burn the fat off by first week of December. I gotta dust off the George Foreman Grill again.

Cool, I'll be putting in an order for an rb26det. For my future midlife crisis fairlady-z project. Thanks in advance.

Can you get an A-2 with a ribbed collar or just the CWU 45?

If you arrange the shipping I can search the entire country for a Z car (or any other old car) that you can plate as a historic, and I can inspect, test drive, kick tires, whatever. Nice way to get a mostly original, or period piece tuner car that is in immaculate condition, since most of these cars have had to pass the Japan reg'o at some point recently. No need to re-marry it to a different engine, just enjoy a nicely put together G-nose like this one: (this one is about $20K, not an original G-nose car, but an S30 with an OEM G-Nose put on it)

That's great, and RHD would be cool as hell (till i have to hit a drive-through). The old straight 6 is a good engine though I'm kinda of hooked on boost since my starquest. Ideally it would look relatively accurate outside, but be more modern underneath. I'd love around 280-300hp daily driver, overbuilt a little for longevity. Nothing crazy. Hoping to get into auto-x somewhere down the line when I don't live in a big city.

That's .15hp/lb in that thing, with 4 lawnmower tires for a contact patch - aka Japan Airlines. redface.gif With the S30 Z's, those things have skyrocketed in price - I was just browsing them now since you mentioned them and they have about tripled in price since I last really checked, no joke. There are all-original ones going for $150K now, LOL. Used to be able to pick those up for $10K all day, everyday, a G-nose for $15K.

There are a bunch of good old-timer Japanese cars that have always been cheap, it would be a shame to see them go up in price like that. The old hakosuka GT-R's and the S30 Z's, it's somewhat understandable, but still, $150K is nuts.

That thing is clean as hell. I plan on ditching the lawn mower tires, don't worry. Probably honestly going to end up getting a clean shell shipped to me from the west coast and doing it from the ground up. The work is half the fun. I'll probably have a laundry list of parts. And clothes will take a back seat... can't afford two expensive hobbies haha. Sorry for the clutter back to leather talk.

...Leather bucket seats biggrin.gif?

edit: fender mirrors = sex

you'd spend $150K doing that, with everything done the right way. At that point, it could be a Porsche, a Datsun, a lot of things.

Saw a clean black E30 M3 on BBS RS1's the other day for sale, since it's an '87 it would be eligible to import to Canada right now, eligible to ship to America in a month. I can buy and garage cars like this for the indoor lockdown parking/insurance fee as well, if people are interested. If you want cars like this, Japan is the last bastion, as most of them have less than 100k km's on the clock, and have been maintained by specialist mechanics. All options should work, the suspensions would be sorted out and have relatively fresh bushings as that's part of the registration check here, they are all good cars that just don't really have a home in Japan anymore.

My brother is a bummer guy, he'd be all over that.
You're right piecing anything together will always end up costing at least 2x what you expect it to. Helps to be able to do all the work yourself though.

It's pretty funny actually. Insurance may be tricky though.

A friend of a friend has/had an RSX from Japan, an Integra Type R. I'm not sure how he got it here, but he was unable to register it so he drove around with the dealer's plates for years.

Boost is pretty addicting (until you get a leak). shog[1].gif

tons of LHD cars in Japan though, I am pretty much only considering LHD cars to buy actually. Killer blind spot, but it'd be safer for me to stay in the same seat and try driving in the left lane, rather than trying to learn RHD.
