A lot of 'shearlings' on the market aren't even real shearling - they're poly fleece lining on regular lambskin. Given the quality of Burberry, I'd say that's probably a case of that. You can do a lot more stuff with the concept and make them look cooler that way - but there's something next level about wearing shearling on your body, it's so fucking warm and it's like an UGGs for your chest. I won't know until I have played with the shearling a bit and get sustainable lines on shearling supplies. Some is thick, some is thin, they'd lend themselves to different designs. It's not in season just yet, so I don't expect to finished with the shearling til the end of summer. It will cost a lot and I don't expect to make many. A square of shearling is 12 bucks (NZ and French lamb is 3-4 bucks a square, which is high in terms of leather - there are crappy leathers that cost 50 cents a square) and you need 50 squares for a jacket, so do the math on that, that is not including the hardware or labor (expensive), or shipping (not so expensive but still high). Figure that I have to price it so that I can afford to remake the same exact order again if things go awry and not lose my ass, and we're in a good deal above a stack. Like I said, it'll be expensive and I don't expect to make tons.
It'll be nice though.
