There are some really TOJ-heavy campuses in the US, probably Canada too. I get people telling me about sightings in Australia, America, Finland, etc. UC Davis had a huge TOJ population, but now it sounds like UMich is pretty heavy with the TOJ too.... who will win?
Start a TOJ frat, brah.
I always thought it'd be cool if the locals would link up for a photo opt a la Burberry ad...just a bunch of dudes wearing something like black DR, white v neck, white sneakers.
39" chest is too big for a 48.... you should round up. I got a lot of people who are way on the extreme end of athletic and they want to buy TOJ1s, I don't know what to tell them. Pretty hard to fit barrel chest guys into slim fit jackets.
Yikes, and I keep posting classifieds for a TOJ varsity in size 48. If my chest is 41" (waist 31"), I should be looking at size 50?

Yeah, gained the extra inch around the chest recently. It's not too bad around the chest, it's just the arms that are tight. It's a little difficult to bend the elbow passed 90deg and when I cross my arms, the sleeve pulls in the back and digs into the front of my shoulders. Stupid of me to think 48 in leather equates to 48 in a nonleather. Happened twice already. :/
Drew, do the people who make the jackets know how nerdy the internet folk are about what they do?
I'm sure they're even moreso than we are. Did you see that long ass post Drew made a while ago? One of the guys covers the leather with plastic wrap when he's sewing.
also, I can guarantee you guys that there are TOJs floating around at Johns Hopkins and tons in Melbourne - we send something to Melbourne almost every week. I'm still waiting to do a TOJ spotting in the wild.
But surely none as nice as my medium whiskey calf MDR will be?

I mean do they ever browse the site/this thread or something and see what people have to say. I'm sure the average ToJ buyer is more "into" it than someone who just goes into say Nordstrom.

what jackets would fit guys who workout? VTG since it's supposed to be worn looser?

That doesn't sound too good for my order. Emailed you Drew!
Can't you just multiply your chest circumference by about 1.08 to determine your size? Maybe this only applied to leathers, but I think Drew said a while ago that 1.05 would give a very tight fit and 1.1 would be a relaxed fit, but the differences are small. If you simply match up your chest circumference with the corresponding pit-to-pit measurement in the size chart you will not be able to breathe, let alone move.

39" chest x 1.08 = 42.12 / 2 = 21.1" pit-to-pit = get size 50 (21.7")
- A 48 has 20.7" pit-to-pit which is smaller than 21.1"
- Therefore a 48 will be very tight on you
- Yes, a 50 will still look "slim"
- Done

If you have a 41" chest you should probably not try to wear a jacket with a 20.7" outside pit-to-pit.
41" chest x 1.08 = 44.28 / 2 = 22.1" pit-to-pit = get size 52 (22.7")
- A 50 has a 21.7" pit-to-pit which is smaller than 22.1"
- Therefore a 50 will be very tight on you
- Done
For a very tight fit:
41" chest x 1.05 = 43.0 / 2 = 21.5" pit-to-pit = get size 50 (21.7")
Sorry Drew if I don't have my facts straight, I will delete this post if that is the case.
