Hickey freeman suits - Page 6

As long as this thread's at the top...

Curious if anyone's got the NEW label stuff and has compared it to the older "silver" label - I heard some not-so-good things about it, and I heard their marketing/sales folks are relying more on their name and cachet and less on the sheer product quality - would love to hear more thoughts / comparisons / experiences.

Completely separate from the quality questions about the new label:
At $500 I would wait for the next sale or coupon. It's a decentish price but you can do better with some regularity.

The HF Hand Tailored line is superb. I have two, one of which I have for sale now on the B&S forum for a very low price.

I understand the "limited" is half canvassed, but what else makes the suit inferior to their other lines? Is it fused? Is the limited line that bad? What is a good price for the limited line?

Sometimes, Neiman Marcus Last Call posts their 40% off regular priced one item.

print that out, get HF Suit $599 - 40% = $360 + Tax

If you get really really lucky, you might get Presidential or Edward line at that price, but I only saw them in gigantic sizes.

They are now selling for $350 and have a larger range of sizes.

I've found the quality to really be poor lately. Sizing inconsistencies and lower quality in general.

Any idea if these are mainline? If so, any idea what model? I just came from the Last Call and tried on several items and the sizing seemed very inconsistent.

Called them -- they couldn't provide me with an answer. Talked to their online chat -- found out they were Hickey Freeman for Neiman Marcus and half-canvassed.

I have come to the same conclusion. The SA told me they had a HF white tag.

I wrote the Sales Associates a couple of weeks ago and here was the reply (below). I asked them specifically if there was any significance between the grey and white sleeve tags (I used the two suit models below as examples). Supposedly both are full-canvassed.

Was going to buy one but held off after getting a BB 1818 on sale for $199. Still, interested to hear from anyone else's experience.

What's their return policy? Can I return to a normal Neiman Marcus? Do they provide free return shipping? If so, I'll likely pick up two or three.
i believe they are final sale, no returns

When people buy OTR they do so because they a) care more about the label than anything else or b) want to justify their previous behavior by continuing to do what they've always done.

Hickey Freeman, Canali, Armani, Brioni, or ravioli are just labels produced for the masses who value goods by price and not worth.

Nonsense. If you are talking about a saville row bespoke suit VS a full priced Brioni OTR suit then fine you do have a point. But a $400 HF suit vs some random Asian tailor, i would seriously be surprised if that came out better. If you have an average sized body then high end RTW blows entry level MTM out of the water especially when found at discount.

A made-to-measure suit, particularly one purchased from an American concern, is going to fit better than any OTR suit. That's not opinion that's fact.

True but your "dirt cheap" Asian tailor American MTM are adjusting an existing pattern. Unless we are talking about bespoke which will run you 2-5k on average which is farm from a $400 HF suit found on discount.

They told me the return fee is $9.95 per order. Regardless of what you return. So take that for what it is worth, but after being at a Last Call recently and seeing lots of diffusion line stuff, I don't believe they are the mainline stuff.
