Haircut Recommendations

Alright, so please ignore the goofy face I'm making in the picture.

I am 18 and I'm looking at getting a haircut and was hoping you guys would be able to pick something out that would look good on me.
I'm a pretty skinny kid and the clothes I'm wearing are a pretty good example of what I'd wear on an every day basis (not shown: slim jeans with some brown vans). Just noting this because, for all I know, my fashion has a lot to do with my haircut? Like I wouldn't want a business cut for casual wear, you know?

I'm heading back to uni next week, so I want to give my hair a little time to grow out and look natural.

So what do you guys think?

I would just trim (and thin) it, but I want to try out another look, I want to prepare myself for when having longer hair like this isn't okay. I want to find 'my' short haircut.
I guess I forgot to mention that, I would prefer it to be a shorter cut, but I'm accepting all suggestions.

Any other ideas, guys?

read up on what hairstyle flatters your facial shape, look in magazines, bring said magazines to a barber shop and tell him to "do this".

Honesty, I've tried doing this before, but I can never determine what the shape of my face is. I guess long because I know I have a pretty big head. Even then I find it hard to look for cuts specifically for 'long' faces, you know?

I could look more into it if you guys told me what you think my face shape is.
